This is a pretty sick sway bar... it almost makes me want to put one back on mine. I am not sure if you mentioned it, but whats the purpose of this. Normally they are just yanked off and not used. is this supposed to stabilize yet give flex as if running without? or do you disconnect it for the trail?

I was 'asked' to try it by Hellwig.....
I run a 3 link long arm system by Rok Crawler up front.......a stiff breeze throws the vehical sideways, off camber is just silly.....The vehical is about at 7" of lift on 36's......
The goal is to help stabalize the vehical, it has no road manors......I'll be running the rear non-disconnect and their front adjustable/disconnect bars to attempt to stabalize and report back to Hellwig as they're all prototype parts for now. My rear has been 'yanked' off for years, so many I had to retap the threads inorder to install, I normally dont run a front sway bar either, but with the 3 link.......it's needed.

Thanks for the info, I can see how at your height and setup something like this would be needed. At an ole' measly 4 inches I wouldnt benefit from it, but had to ask what the intentions were on the bar.

Had some minor vibrations this morning with the SYE and new drive shaft. When I got home I went and pulled a cross member bolt off the the 1999 and dropped by the local auto parts for 4 grade 8 bolts. Remove the 1" drop for the transfer case and got it back up where God intended it to be.

I posted some pictures of the drive line now. I guess I'll see if the vibrations are better tomorrow. Gone = better.

Looks like the only thing that not gonna bolt or weld right in place is the control arms however since those are heim joints I should be in decent shape but I checked everything and I need to modify the HD track bar mount on the frame side... I need to remove the frame stiffener support thats in the HD setup and move the track bar up to that hole and remove about 3 inches of the track bar mount to provide some up travel

The Dynomax Super Turbo exhaust I got is this one here.

http://www.jegs.com/i/Dynomax/289/17463/10002/-1

I originally wanted the toughness of the Flowmaster 942447OR muffler because of it's ability to take rock hits, but I ultimately decided I did not want an overly loud exhaust.

I was sold on the Dynomax because of this review here. There is a sound clip at the bottom of the page.

http://www.rockcrawler.com/techreports/dynomax_xj/page2.asp

On the quiet side, but about as free flowing as they get.

I just put it on this afternoon and at the moment it is only slightly louder than stock. Everyone says they get louder when the packing blows out, but they remain quiet compared to a Flowmaster 40 series.

The internals look excellent.

I don't buy anything from autozoo. When I did my V8 ZJ tie rod upgrade, I went in there asking specifically for the TRE at the pitman arm for an XJ. They gave me the smaller one for the XJ tie rod. When I returned it, the one they gave me didn't have a codder pin in it. They had to open a bulk pack of them and give me one.

Went to the Chrysler dealership and picked up...

O2 sensor
MAP sensor
CPS
IAC
TPS

and a fuel pump, regulator, etc... assembly.

Started about 4pm installing everything.

3 sensors on the throttle body went quickly.

Rear O2 sensor took about as long as the 3 sensors (front O2 is already a new Chrysler part)

Then started in on the unknown, dropping the fuel tank. Not too bad I think I started on it about 6pm, and I had it back in by 9ish. Cleaned up, drove to the gas station and filled it up. Looking for leaks and checking the reading on the fuel gauge. All looked (and smelled) fine, so drove back home and put the fuel tank skid back on.

I'm leaving the trailer hitch off for now.

Drove down to indy yesterday (None of the salvage yards up here have any xjs) Finally  found a drivers seat that was in good condition and it only cost $17 bucks!! Unfortunately when I went to remove the 98 Grand Cherokee seat I had been using the remaining bolt heads broke off. Two had broken when I took out the original seat. So now I have to actually extract the bolts so I don't have a rocking chair. At least the nut on the rear is still usable. The ZJ seat is in good condition but even fully upright it's angled back a little to far for my tastes. It feels much better with the straighter back of the XJ seat!!
Also picked up a few trim pieces for the dash and a lid for the center console (the plastic locking tab on the original one broke years ago).

Also picked up a dash piece for the rear wiper/defrost/lighter section. I don't remember what year the pieces were from since I got them out of a couple different XJs. This one didn't have a switch for the fog lights so I'm using it since my fog lights stopped working and were taken off a couple years ago. Also since I don't smoke I cut a little notch on the bezel (I hope that's the right word since I keep using it) for the power outlet cover.

Also got a new rear seat to replace the ruined one. Also got a new interior panel for the rear... The one on the left caught fire when I was welding the new floor in in the rear... Oops and finally I got my spare HP30 back so I can start an axle build until I move to the swap I have planned. The axle will be trussed sleeved, C's will be gusseted and it will receive 4.56s

Hit the yard today. ZJ rear backing plates and caliper brackets, proportioning valve from the same ZJ, ZJ offset shifter handle with the white linkage thingie, and some caliper bolts. I would have gotten the calipers, but they wanted more than reman's from a parts store. I figure I'll just eat the core charge.

I also picked up the bolts to mount my TC skid. I didn't feel like drilling the holes out for the nutcerts, so it will be a project for another day.

Pressure was higher right off the bat around 45-50 and it held pressure on the hour drive to work never going below 30 so hopefully it was just a bad filter but we will see tonight and in the coming days! As I have told some of you, its been a while since I poked around my jeep, well lastnight I finally managed to get the hoist working enough to put it in the air.

Found three good sized holes in the back that must have been shaken loose. One on either side of the lower quarters(will take care of that with the cut n fold. And another in the wheel well itself, that one was strange to me.

I also discovered where my unresponsive steering has been coming from lately, the nut and lockwasher on my pitman arm were far from tight, the lock washer was holding just enough tension to not let the nut fall off. The nut was flush with the bottom of the sector shaft with an uncompressed lock washer.

Much better handling, if anything its a little too touchy now. All is well, crisis averted :D

Welded the rear hatch striker assembly back on for the second time (it's on for good now), shut the hatch and discovered it wouldn't re-open. After a LOT of fuss'n with it I got it open, adjusted the linkage from the handle to the latch, all good now.

Now that the hatch opens I cleaned out behind the seat and washed a 1/2 gallon of anti freeze out of my "Husky liner" (awesome accessory).

I fixed my transfer case shifter TWICE only to discover my tranny mount bolts are missing. Now I know why the fan punched the radiator on the last wheeling trip.

Tried to install my TC skid with the same nutcerts I used for my bumpstop repair and failed epicly.

I got 4 netcerts, and destroyed the first two and had to knock them into the subframe. #3 seemed to go well and I figured I could mount it with two and get more later. #4 started turning when it was almost installed.

At that point I discovered that by dumb luck when I installed the ones for the bumpstop, that I used a bolt that was threaded all the way to the head. This time I didn't and the nut that was supposed to spin on the bolt didn't. I need to either use a different bolt or get a larger nut to use as a bushing. I'm going to order some more nutcerts on Monday and should have them by Wed. Atleast they are like $1.04 a nutcert.

I'll probably do a write up then. I also discovered that because I didn't have the factory skids, I have the holes in the subframe and cross member, and they are 1/2" holes. I had to open them to 5/8" to fit the nutcerts into the hole.
