I backed into a tree limb, while driving in the creek.

Did you think they were shooting at you! :smiley-laughing021:

I guess your collision avoidance system was down, or the limb was too small to register as a threat.

Hey let us know what you have to do to get that fixed. Whether it's a do-it-yourself, or get it replaced professionally. You know someone else will be in your position sooner or later!

Hey TeXJ,I used " Castrol Super Clean" to degrease the engine&clean the undercarriage.Directions say the engine must be cold&dry.Let sit awhile so it penetrates, the heavy deposits you will have to take a brush too. This stuff works great and has no smell. The Gunk product works well also but it really stinks, even after the engine is dry, takes a while for it to burn off completely.Good luck on cleaning your motor.

Today was an almost complete waste of time working on my jeep.

The only productive thing I did today was getting my rear hatch to stay open.

Project number two was to take the bezel off of my instrument panel to try to fix the light behind my air control unit. I soon realized that I couldn't figure out how to get to the light after I got the screws out of the unit. (Waste of about 2 hours)

Project number three was to replace my dummy gauges with a useful instrument cluster (since I already had the bezel off) and the sun set soon after starting that. It is now sitting in pieces outside until I start again tomorrow.

I guess I shouldn't have waited until after noon until start but I really don't like working outside in the morning when it is still 30 or so degrees. We will see what the weather does tomorrow.

Are those aftermarket flat finder flares or is that something you made. I just trimmed mine and was thinking of doing flat fenders but not sure if I should buy after market or build my own. Those are really sharp and that is one bad*ss XJ.

I need the part number on that valve that sits post engine, pre heater core,..

Anyhow on Sunday, went to Pick and Pull and got:

-Renix Fuel rail and regulator
-Cab corners for the MJ

Went home, changed the rail on the MJ, and injector gaskets,..still ran rough and way rich; swapped in a new MAP sensor and now the brown cloud is gone,.. now to figure out why it stumbles trying to rev out,..

Well at least it runs now  not great but it runs :driving:

Well yesterday morning I headed out in the Jeep to Lubbock. Made it nearly into gatesville(maybe ganesville, dont remember) and the alt went out and ran several red lights to get off the highway and into the orielly's parking lot. Um, I have to agree with you Rene, Wth was Jeep thinking when they designed where it went. So the guy opened early for me and my buddy at 7:15. I had minimal tools and a busted 3/8th drive ratchet but after 6 hours in the Orielly's parking lot I was on my way again to Lubbock. I had to remove the bracket that bolts onto the block to remove it and had a heck of a time getting it out from below thanks to the skid plate. Putting the new one in was more fun(the casing seemed to be just slightly larger. After an hour of swear words and frustration i romoved the fan shroud and fan and in it went.
EDIT: I also removed the battery and battery tray so I could have access otherwise I would have had no chance in the Orielly's parking lot.

But what I did to it today, since that is the thread topic, is I drove it home from Lubbock in 8 hours. Good road trip for sure.

I'm about to drive mine go over to pick up some different wheels. They're crappy chrome mods, but they have 2" backspacing, so my tires won't be so close to my leafs anymore. They got a little surface rust, but I'll probably just hit them with some rust killer and then spray line them. The guy wants 20 bucks for all 4 wheels and tires. Someone should market a round headlight kit for XJ - looks great! Looks like the Cherokee should have looked before square headlights came into fashion.

Nice job on the whole thing Spanky.

All the below are ideas for walking thru a U-Pull-It-Yard. I think anyone who owns a Jeep knows at least one of these yards.

If you need extra switches or aux fuse boxes, look in the conversion vans. They all had many switches and electrical accessories.

Mid 90's Chevy cars had a primary fuse box and and a smaller auxilliary fuse box from the factory. The aux box has 3 relays, 4 maxi fuses, and 6 mini fuses.

2000-2005 Chevy Monte Carlos have rearview mirrors that have the button for adjusting for glare and they have map lights built in. If your Jeep has lighted vanity visors or overhead console you already have power up there. The Chevy rearview mirror uses the same mount as your Jeep. It is simply a matter of swapping the mirrors.

Mid 90s to mid 00s Chryslers (mainly mini vans and LeBarons) have relays in the engine compartment that have the 'hoods' on them. Look around and you can find 1, 2, 3, and 4 relay assemblies mounted with brackets.

Many different trucks and cars with auto transmissions have aux coolers from the factory. These have good mounting brackets (not the zip ties that go thru the radiator). Nab a small one for a power steering cooler.

Bring needle nose pliers and get yourself some spare fuses in any amperage desired.

Don't forget to take dykes, a razor blade and deadblow hammer (all handy items, do not forget them, ask me how I know).

Oh, in keeping with the OP theme, I got a bracket out of a Ford car to mount the aux fuse box under the hood. Also picked up one of the underhood lights on a reel. Cleaned 'em up. Now I just have to mount them.

dude... thats the coolest innovation Ive seen in a while as far as JY upgrades...and come to think of it pretty much all of the high end first body style dodge durangos also have that same feature on their rearview... I just never thought of that!
and those of you looking for hood vents... think outside the box and look at MOST pontiac vehicles... the have some odd looking vents on almost every 90's models vehicles that if your good you can remove al the hardware and use it to make some really BA hood vents!

Well I replaced one sloppy hub bearing with a better used one. All went well, until I tightened the last bolt. I broke a caliper bolt in the knuckle. Tried to drill out and fix, and ended up making it worse. So I am gonna fix it the easy way and throw another knuckle on it.
