Make sure you give us a review after you try these out at night!
And post up a link or info on these if they're worth it!

Got the Alternator and Belt reinstalled (with the help of my neighbor) and I fired Red up and SHE EFFING RUNS. A month's worth of kicking her in the tires and bumper in frustration :bang: and working on her and SHE RUNS FINALLY!!!! No dying, no barely audible run sequence, no freaking out gauges...nothing. She started up funky but after getting oil and other fluids circulated, she started sounding like her old self again. So much so that I decided to drive her to Oper. Temp. around town and she never once had a problem. Life is friggin good right now :D
I am mobile again and apparently the only thing still wrong is the gosh darned NSS (Neutral Safety Switch). When I replace that she will be just like before granted another Code 41 doesn't come along xD THANK YA, JESUS!!!! :bacondance:

SIDE NOTE FOR EDIT: The gauges don't respond until I start the car now (God damnit xD) and the radio receives power when the key is turned to a position that doesn't exist behind the 'Lock' position (wtf???? lol). So now I can't do the 'key dance' to check my CEL if there's a code thrown and I can't check any of the gauges if the car is off (not running just in accessory). -le sigh- Now I gotta fiure out what the frick frack happened to my ignition switch. I might have set it a little bit to far forward or back I'm not sure. Not looking forward to doing it....AGAIN. Damn man....at least it runs again.

Cut the hole for the switch for my back up lights and wired it up.

and then I removed that body plug above the foot pedals and put a grommet in.
I don't know why I didn't do this sooner, now I can run junk through my firewall with ease.

Going to put silicone or something around the perimeter of the grommet.
Then find something to fill the rest of the hole
so when I go to run more wires, I can just pull it out and run them on through.

Today I was finally able to start the suspension lift! :xj-blue:
I got the all of the rear done and was able to disassemble the front.

I decided to swap my usual day off, which is Friday, to Tuesday and try to wrap things up. My buddy was kind enough to let me borrow his lift at the shop, so I don't want to overstay my welcome! hahaha

I just hope tomorrow will be easier than today! It's hard work but very rewarding! Wish me luck!

Here's a pic of today's progress:

I bought these exact ones. The seller doesn't specify, but they are Optronics (which is a name brand). I believe the part number on them is bul74cbk . 6 inch oval grommet mount. Somebody showed me a cheaper pair on ebay but for 10 bucks more I got a name brand set of lights and they got to me in 2 days! I was in oreilly's the other day and one of these without the grommet was 25 bucks.

Posted this is another thread but i remembered there was a few people on this one that had asked about it so...

Finally got a video done of the LED lightbar... but it stinks! I took several videos before we left home and ran out of time so I dealt with what I had. Resolution sucks and everything looks dimmer than it actually is but here you guys go. Sorry it took so long.

Don't feel too bad, that's when I found out mine were gone! Only I was "testing" to see how far down trail I could go in 2 wheel drive so when I switched to 4wd I didn't. LOL

ok-maybe it was everything else I just knocked out over the lase 4 days!
however, as the guy at the parts store said, knock sensors go bad (GM issue from '80's... before Chrysler took control)...
my idle is a steady 650-700 rpms now!

easier than the O2 sensor to change...

Ok, So the saga continues...
Took my maddeningly beautiful wife to Costco, to show her off you know?
This was met by the question... Why do you make me ride in this rumbly thing?
Sniff... (wipes tear from left eye, probably hay fever or some such)
Rumbly thing Dearest?
Yes, at stop lights it.. Well... Rumbles!
Be damned if she was not right! (She always is, just ask her).
Well I said, Battlebutt needs new injectors, they are all just gross!
BattleButt she asks, well yes dearest, that is what I named her...
erhm... Uh Oh!
%@$%@ YOU SILLY &&$$@! MEN, I Will NEVER UNDERSTAND WHY #$%^ MEN...
You get the point? I sure did!
But dear, they cost about $200-$300 for a real nice set and....
WHAT?
Oh dear...
Fix them yourself, you are always telling me you can do anything!
Well yes dear, figuratively speaking, of course...

How do I place myself in these situations?

So NOW I am committed to doing Injectors on the cheep!
So I flop the head back on the bust of leonardo da vinci,
tag the button found there-in smartly and head for the nerd poles!
Yes I know, I know, but bat-poles are probably copyrighted some place
and If I do not have the bucks for the injectors,
a lawyer is really out of the question, right?
Down I slide (1 step) into the bat... ah Nerd-cave (Garage)
to make my list and check it twice....

Off to Autozone I go for the following:
1 each can of SeaFoam "Spray" cleaner! PN 419580 $13.99
1 each Vacu-Tite "T" PN 373175 $2.49
3 each Injector "O" ring sets PN ES70599 $11.97
1 each Rubber vacuum elbow had 1 laying around...

Made an Injectorator (Yes, I make up words to suit my moods)
http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z367/weirdshots/Adapterhose.jpg
with the red tube from SeaFoam can, last 1/2" of one end of the vacu-Tite "T" and then shoved it into the Vacuum elbow I had already, like this...
http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z367/weirdshots/Hose_Inst.jpg
Then of course there is that "How do I make the injector, Ject?"
First, you call NASA and have them ship you one of these...
http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z367/weirdshots/Battery.jpg
or just buy one at radio shack, tape some wires to it and
http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z367/weirdshots/CNTRS.jpg

Now for the fun stuff...

I Slipped the adapter over the feed end of the injector and hooked up the power source. hit the button a few times to see how the injector sounds.
Dull thud or a nice sharp click? Sharp click! Yeah!
Now apply power and push da button on the can, see what the pattern looks like,
skewed, split, drip drip drip? In this case skewed a little so I let the button go and click click click the power a few times.
Hook hose to the other end and back-feed the injector. Now I hook up to input again and try the pattern, Crisp, solid flow! Yeah!

Now do it 5 more times!

3 drip drip drip
2 leakers that pee after button is released and power off.
Forward and reverse flow with SeaFoam a few times fixes them all!
Now for the cleanup as, when you think about it, which do you prefer?
http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z367/weirdshots/Bfr_aftr.jpg
Now she idles nice and smooth and starts much easier!

Now that foxy woman of mine will just complain about the smell of my jeep,

Replaced a side marker light for my rear brake lights. I had no idea that it was illegal for a simple sidemarker but I'm glad I know now that I replaced it. According to the officer I spoke with, "any light that was installed OEM at the factory must remain operable at all times or it is a fix it ticket". $25 bucks is not much of a ticket but it still is money NOT going to my Jeep :D Remember ladies and Jeeps, always maintain your lights no matter how small.

Tell us more Tony! You do both sides? You use the Moog ones? How long did it end up taking you?

Well I'm glad you asked! lol I was just coming here to finish up posting about the ball joints.

I did the passenger side yesterday and the driver's side today. Yesterday (first time ever doing ball joint replacement) it took about 5 hours.

Today right at 2. Of course I was lucky that this is a Texas Jeep! Having the right tools help as well.

I'm starting to get cupping on the front tires again, so I also rotated the tires on the 98. I just want to sit down and be under a fan for a while, like the rest of the night! lol

Now back to the 99. I did notice that the driver's side front tire was starting to wear on the outside edge. The plan is for my oldest daughter to take it to get aligned then the next step will be to take it to discount tire and get a new BFG AT then with the never used spare along with the new BFG those will go on the back and we'll keep the driver's front as a spare, and ditch the 50% no tread tire.

LEDs will force them to find some other petty thing to write a ticket for. Police shouldn't be used as revenue generators.

Sweet! You're almost ready to get high... er.

Anymore where that came from?!?! :D

He had those 6" bilsteins that he wanted to sell me for $100, but I really would have to sleep with one eye open if I bought them. Sucks, cuz I sure could use them! He was also replacing his whole lift kit pretty much. The rear leafs are a bastard pack made out of f150 leafs... no flex at all, but 6". I think that's about it.

Been contemplating long arms myself, but can't shell out $1k.

Absolutely. I feel bad because I told him he had my business, but I came across this other guy that had them at the amount I already had saved up. He will definitely be my preferred go to guy for parts. Hopefully Mark isn't mad at me :(

This forestry trail by my work has been teasing me ever since I started working here. Yesterday I (unfortunately) had to go into work but decided to make the most out of it and go ahead and have a little fun while we were out here.

http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af15/abebehrmann/0B525D18-9C60-4BCE-83E7-ED23FE51790F_zpsvurm2sgi.jpg (http://s989.photobucket.com/user/abebehrmann/media/0B525D18-9C60-4BCE-83E7-ED23FE51790F_zpsvurm2sgi.jpg.html)

Wasn't very long or difficult to get through but gave me an excuse to make sure the 4wd is still in good working condition. Can never be too careful... Not too far in, we came across this big old Gopher tortoise munching on some greens right in the middle of the trail. We picked him up and moved him to the side but he did not want to share any of his salad.

After that was done, we headed home and loaded up the dogs into the XJ and headed out to explore some local conservation areas I've been trying to find time to go to for a while now. Well, once we got there it started pouring down rain so we had to quickly load everyone back in and head home. I think everyone enjoyed the adventure though.

wooohoo, ordered front bearing hub (Timken) from rockauto (http://www.rockauto .com)and XJ gearing package (USA Standard Gear) from RWK Haus Supply (http://rwkhaussupply.com).

The package is:
4.56 set for Dana 30 and Chrysler 8.25 with D30 carrier and master installation kit for both gear sets. Due to heavier weight, I've choose sea shipment and they will arrive after 45-60 days.

Do we have a easier way to install remove bearing from D30 carrier without special clamshell tool? They are way to expensive for me, just for 1 axle job

I was driving down to the dealership yesterday when I saw this bug flying at me. Naturally, I brushed it off with a sort of grimace as he was about to make impact (I do not like the thought of them blowing their bodily fluids out on my windshield). Yet to my ultimate horror as the bug flew closer...I realized...it wasn't a bug. It was a ROCK. As I was driving down the freeway at 65MPH, the image of the rock seemed to slow down almost to the point where I could see it as if it was sitting on the ground. In my head, I was panicking, "No! Please for the love of all things holy just be a bug!!!". But alas, it was too late. The rock hit my windshield in excess of 100+ MPH (factoring in its speed coming at me and my speed going towards it) with a loud SMACK! "Oh my God did it crack the window?" I said frantically as I searched for the impact point which I thought would be inevitable. "Nothing there...nothing over there. Did I get lucky?" I said to myself as I slowly eased into a sort of calm state. "Maybe it hit but didn't crack the window." HA! I must have been one of the lucky ones. As I settled back into my chair, a thought occurred, "Should I look one more time?". "NO!" I said to myself as I quietly continued driving to my destination. So after a minute or two, I finally had calmed enough to get to my off ramp but then, glistening in the sunlight as the car changed direction....THERE IT WAS....the IMPACT POINT. "GOD -expletive- DAMNIT!!!!" I said to myself in utter rage. I had become insane with anger. I quickly got my phone out as I reached the parking lot of the dealership. "Hello, is this Esurance claims?....I have a claim to report. My windshield got hit with a rock." Would it be fixed? Could it be saved? Or would I have to replace my windshield? After 30 minutes, I had finally gotten my answer. "Thanks for calling Esurance. The Safelite Technician will be at your house tomorrow between 8AM and Noon. Because you have Comprehensive coverage, your window will be fixed free of charge. Thanks for your continued customer loyalty." That was it? No deductible? No out-of-pocket expenses? Oh sweet lordy!!! Finally my full coverage auto insurance had come in handy!

-The Next Day-

At 8:13am, my technician had arrived and after about 10 minutes of talking to him as the window was being filled with their amazing resin, the procedure was over. The only point of the crack and original damage that could be seen was a small *bump* on the window where the resin had filled in the impact point which he then smoothed out to be perfectly angled with the window. After he left, I breathed a sigh of relief knowing that I had to pay nothing for it. Had I not had full coverage, it could have cost me as much as $500. I then settled back into my house to begin my day. The first real activity of the day: post this extremely long post explaining the incident in detail when I could have made it a lot shorter. You mad, bro? :D Have a happy day!

Nice that your insurance covered it! I'm lucky that I made friends with the windshield guy at one of my dealerships and he's fixed all my chips free. Little tip though, if it ever comes to you needing to spend $500, keep in mind that a new windshield on these jeeps is around $150 or less ;)

Got my rig smog certified and registration fees paid albeit with a little...smog and dash tactics. STORYTIME FELLOW JEEPERS!!!

I promise it won't be as bad as the other one about the rock lol

Paid my fees this morning: done. Go to get it smogged at a mom and pop shop and immediately they start giving me problems. Technician chick who is 25 (I'm 23 in July) starts giving me all this BS about how my car sounds funny and yada yada yada. I brush it off like "shut up and pass my rig so I can leave". Well she goes to do it and realizes she doesn't have my key and comes back in. Asks for my key ever so rudely ("Give me your key so I can start your smog test") with no smile and a flat annoyed voice. It's 10 AM lady, don't work as a smog tech if you wanna sleep in. Go be a stripper and work nights cause I sure didn't want to wake up at 8:30 and have to deal with your annoyed ass. So anyways, she does the test and the guy comes in and tells me it isn't gonna pass. Now I'm pissed because in 22 years this june it has NEVER ONCE failed a smog...in 22 YEARS. He tries to give me all this BS about how a hose popped off my evap canister. I said "Well just reattach it and pass me and I'll be on my way" but before I could finish, he cuts me off and tells me to wait and he'll show me and I retorted and said "I know every damn thing wrong with my rig so don't push me this early. That hose has been disconnected for 10 YEARS and still passed inspection 5 other times (6 if you include the mandatory one when I had it transferred to me). You wanna explain that ponyboy?" He then tried to change his 'diagnosis' to "I don't think the canister is the same size cause the hose doesn't fit". "Really?" I said. "Because the original factory one is in my trunk. You want me to get it out and show you that not only do the part numbers match but so does the diameter of every valve and port and also the random numbers on the top?" He told me no and then got extremely annoyed because he realized now that this "young kid" knows his rig unlike other dumb 20 somethings. So after all the 'testing' it PASSES emissions. Like 150 PPM and it was at 17 PPM. RUNNING LIKE A FRIGGIN NEW MUD PRINCESS. So I should get my cert and go right? HELL NAW! Him and his tech FAIL me because the hose was disconnected, the DASH in my rig was unscrewed (because I'm adjusting the Ign. switch still) even though it has nothing to do with emissions, and because the dumb broad couldn't get my LOCKING gas cap off (she never asked for my key just failed it instead). The emissions PASSED and I got failed because they were all a bunch of dbags. So they give me the invoice for 39.75 WITHOUT a cert (8.25) and he tells me "fix all the stuff that's wrong and come back and we'll test it again and pass you for an extra retesting fee + 20 bucks for a clean pass". I was thoroughly pissed. I tried to get him to just take my debit card (VISA) so I could go somewhere else and he only accepts CASH. NO checks, debit or credit cards. JUST CASH. SO I told them "let me go to the bank and pay you. I'll brb". I grabbed my keys, jumped in my car and took off. Legally I have a right to refuse to pay for unsatisfactory service and can take it somewhere else to get it done. SO I DID. And guess what? A family friend and my mechanic referred me to a place and they were appalled by the behavior of the other place and fixed it for free then passed me because I indeed PASSED. For only 48.25 they passed me and treated me right. It would have been more expensive to stick with the first dbags. Way better and like I said, Red has NEVER FAILED a Smogging. Still hasn't. Am I gonna pay the other guy? Hell no. Go out of business for all I care you dumb -expletive-. Even the COP I spoke to regarding if I could be arrested said he wouldn't have gone to them and that it was civil and he would waste more money trying to take me to court even if he won. So BOOM: Me 1 Dbags -1. And Red is still Registered legally :D God I love knowing the law and all its loopholes.

Yeah the shop I went to was Kelly's on Skyway here in Paradise. Terrible service and customer service. Technically, because she never took my gas cap off and just failed me, they never did a 'complete' service so it's just like I aborted the test and don't have to pay according to the law. So I will no longer go there again. I went to Tony's 4x4 shop at the intersection of Skyway and Clark. Way nicer and did it cheaper and WAY more accurately. Tony's said I had only 7 PPM (HC) when the average is 13 PPM for a vehicle like mine at 2500 RPM whereas Kelly's said I was at 23 PPM (HC) for the same RPM. Kelly's was using outdated equipment as well since the one at Tony's cost 10 grand alone and Kelly's was just a little metal rod conducted with electricity to determine O2/CO2 content like an O2 sensor. The tech had only been smogging for less than 2 years at Kelly's. Just glad I get my registration tags finally.

Luckily, I hadn't gotten rid of my full coverage and my comprehensive so it didn't cost me anything OOP. Otherwise, my deductible would have been $250 minimum plus whatever other fees. So I'm gonna stick with full coverage lol

Wow, wow, wow, what a difference a tire makes in the drive ability of a vehicle! I lost a little in the off road look category but more than made up for it in drive ability! Woot

Yeah but you have snow....wanna send some to us here in the NorCal High Sierras? We have had ONE snow day the WHOLE winter and I count winter as November 1st to March 1st. The rest has been rain.

Yes! We are sick of snow and cold! We've had 36" already and I have a bad case of frostbite on two of my toes from the last one so it stopped being fun. :( Supposed to snow here again this weekend not sure how much yet. :p

I went wheeling for the first time EVER today with my uncle and my cousin (cuz was riding shotgun for half the trip). Traveled about 42 miles up the mountain from the center of Paradise til we hit some crazy logging roads only suitable for 4 wheel drives. My uncle got stuck a little ways up once we hit the SNOW which was about 2 1/2-3 feet up at 5,000 feet or so (I found it finally and yet we're still in a drought lol). Here's some pics from inside my STOCK rig that some of you said couldn't be used for the crazier roads. HAHAHA showed you lol

This is what it STARTED as:
4690

What it ended up getting into:
4691

On the way back as it started getting dark:
4692

Did some crazy stuff and it got DARK by the time we even made it a quarter of the way back to our original turnoff point. Some fun stuff. Anyone in the Dice should come with us next time :D

keep us inf. how that works I'm replacing my header and was thinking about doing the samething on the inside and out. just wondering if the paint might flake off and goof up the o2 ?

UPDATE March 1, 2014:

After a week on the road and some 600+ miles, Gas mileage has increased by about 2.5 MPG, Idle is much smoother and what I thought was just drive line vibration has turned out to be Injector imbalance. Baby cakes runs MUCH better!:patriot:

So I flop the head back on the bust of Leonardo DA Vinci,
push the button found there smartly and head for the nerd poles!
Yes I know, I know, but bat-poles are probably copyrighted some place
and If I do not have the bucks for the injectors,
a lawyer is really out of the question, right?
Down I slide (1 step) into the bat... ah Jeep-cave (Garage)
to make my list and check it twice....

Off to Autozone I go for the following:
1 each can of SeaFoam "Spray" cleaner! PN 419580 $13.99
1 each Vacu-Tite "T" PN 373175 $2.49
3 each Injector "O" ring sets PN ES70599 $11.97
1 each Rubber vacuum elbow I had 1 laying around...

Now that foxy woman of mine will just complain about the smell of my jeep,
Not the Rumble!:smiley-gen165:

Got the Virginia Fabrication bumper all mounted up on Friday. Today I pulled the wheels and tires off the TJ to see how it would look with the new lift and bumper. I think it looks pretty nice but more importantly I have strong recovery points both front and rear now. Ready to do some heavier wheeling.

Update from yesterday... The Trucklite LED headlights are AWESOME. It's kinda weird being able to drive at night and see what is out there. One issue I had was related to the foglamp relay. Both high and low beam were on when the lights were on so I pulled the relay and they worked great. On low beam there is a "dead spot" about 50 yards in front of the Jeep but on high beam they were great.

Red hit 267,000 miles today on the way home from a trip to the Bay Area (and subsequent 'flash' trip to San Fransisco since the fiancee had never been there). She must be running great because for all the problems she's been having she made it over 300 miles round trip on only one tank of gas.

My old back hatch struts wouldn't keep the door up. Would they keep he hood up?

Yes,when they wear out and will not support the hatch they are perfect for the hood lift. New rear struts are too powerful and open the hood very fast.
My used struts have been operating the hood lift for over 2 years now and I frequently leave the hood open all day.
Keep in mind there is a strut change from 1996 to 97. I have a 1996 and the struts are longer than on 97-01.

That's right!...the late model struts ARE different, not only in size, but the ends are different too. Luckily for me I have both sitting around (i think - need to find those still) ... As soon as I kick this cold I've been fighting, I'm going to tackle this.

Well last week I was sitting on a 3 inch rough country lift, now I am sitting on a 4.5 inch lift thanks to a set of 4.5 rubicon express coils and a set of adjustable 1.5 to 2 inch shackles and rugged ridge 1.5 nch wheel spacers. Also a rough country heavy duty adjustable trac bar for a 4.5 to 6 inch lift and a heavy duty bracket as well. It was an interesting weekend since I started taking the old 3 inch coils off without a spring compressor. I now have a spring compressor :). I think I need a new pitman arm though now

Sounds like a productive weekend. Are longer shocks in the plan too?

To remove springs easily, unbolt shocks and drag-link from axle, remove and support calipers, then the axle will drop way down and the springs will almost fall out.

Finally got my newest add on to my Jeep. It's the only visual add on I've added (besides the tires) to this rig and they work great. Brighter than the headlights in a cone, but the headlights are brighter in a straight line which I am ok with. It definitely accents them very well. Still trying to figure out how to route some of the wires better since my XJ didn't have any of the Auxiliary Lighting harnesses.

Yes Steve the longer shocks are on the list. I don't wheel mine too much so I'm not overly concerned about them right this minute. They work for going to work so that's my main concern. And as far as dropping the springs out, I pulled the bottom bolts out of the shock, the keeper off the spring, the lca on the passanger side, the trac bar and the steering bar. Finally got the passanger side out. I tried prying on it after unbolting each thing last the keeper. Tried for awhile each time. Wasn't working in my favor. Pulled the bottom bolts out of the shock on the driver side, pulled the keeper and the brake line bracket on both sides and the driver side practically fell out. Couldn't get the new springs in without the compressor though

4816

The wires can be run into the cab through the firewall with the hood release cable, along the fender, around the radiator and under the grill. In the fuse panel is an AUX port that is switched power. This is used to arm a relay that will operate the lights. Tapping into and pulling power from any factory harness is a recipe for trouble.
The stock headlights can be brightened considerably by installing a H4 harness such as Putco $28. Stock, all the power for the headlights go through the pull-switch, this greatly reduces what make it to the headlights. The harness uses relays that are triggered by the pull-switch. The lights operate off the relays that supply full power. Big difference in light output.

Replaced my fan clutch since the old one was 22 years old from the factory when it rolled off the line. It had been overheating and was stuck in its 'cooldown' or 'cold operating' mode so it never opened up at engine operating temp (and yes it's a thermal clutch).

Weather finally warmed up here, so I tried to get all 4 shocks swapped out after work.

Fronts went super fast.I was fully prepped to have the bolts in back break, though. Well, they did. Just not today. Whoever put the previous shocks in must have broke them and dropped down some bolts from the top like I had planned. I had a heck of a time getting the driver side out, but I got that one done as I was running out of light. I'm just going to cut off the bolts on the passenger side tomorrow. I don't know why I didn't do that in the first place.

The new HD rear bumper is due for delivery tomorrow evening, as the guy who made it has put in a fair bit of effort fabricating it, I thought I'd do a proper job on the prep before fitting. To that end, I ordered up some acid etch primer and some zinc primer, then finish with Plasicote satin black. Worryingly, I fear I'm getting all old and sensible, as I also ordered these for spraying.

I like adding a Line-in Stereo L-pad between the Pre-amp and power amp inside my car stereos so I can run my Kenwood TM-D700 audio out to left and right for 70cm / 2M through the stereo speakers. That way I know which band is which. Also, I can adjust stereo and Ham Radio audio independent of each-other.

Well with the new motor in I've replaced all fluids, filters, battery, thermostat, temp sensor, spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor, serpentine belt, radiator, motor mounts, oil pan, fan shroud, back hatch shocks, wipers all around. Jeep is like brand new, but the damn thing still isn't running right.

Spent today ruling out the fuel pump and fuel filter. Checked pressure and it was all good. Vacuum pressure was a bit high. Compression was fine. Tomorrow I plan on replacing spark plug wires (which I should have replaced with plugs. Plugs are a bit fouled, not burning near enough fuel) and ignition coil.

Haven't had a chance yet to get it on a scanner to see what's wrong. If I can't get it with the plug wires and ignition coil I'm going to take it to a mechanic and see what's going on. Out of my depth.

It is starting real hard. Idles fine, but when I give it gas I'm getting crossfire and it is backfiring pretty hard. I figured the old gas in it had something to do with it, but that should all be burned through by now and I'm on to the new gas. :(

Change wires. Takes just one bad one. Recheck dist cap and rotor. Make sure they didn't arch burn because of bad wires.

The cap and rotor are still good, nothing looked bad there. I did have one wire break when I was taking them off to get the plugs out to check compression. Hopefully it was the wires. They looked good when I decided to keep them while swapping engines. Upon closer examination they looked iffy. Hopefully new wires fix the issue. Replaced everything else, might as we'll add wires to it. Eventually I'll have replaced enough to really narrow down future issues haha

Also starting to wonder if springing for platinum plugs was a good idea. I've never used anything in my Jeeps except Champion coppers, but I was feeling fancy.

Going to have to see if I can find a deal on these same parts of the 90 that I picked up.. so I can freshen up the axles a bit... But think I might find a HP30 from a 97+ to install first though...

Installed the new coil and plugs today. No change. Going to haul it to my mechanic buddy to see if he can hook it up to the computer to tell me what's wrong. Then I'll haul it home and try to fix it. If it is completely over my head I guess I'll be funding his beer money for a few weeks.

Replaced the Transmission Fluid Gravitational Return Hose aka the transmission fluid return line. Somebody had Mickey'd it. I guess the portion of hose that was crimped had ripped apart or snapped off or something and instead of repairing it they just hose clamped it onto the existing portion that the crimp was supposed to be attached to. Idiots. But no more! It is a brand new line that has no visible leaks and has been running pretty well. I am SO glad to have gotten this done since the old hose had a 'phantom' bulge (two to be exact) that would appear for no reason then disappear after the ol' girl had been off for a bit. Seeing as it was a no pressure line, it bothered me that it started getting bulges so I just replaced it myself. Wasn't that hard actually save for the Mickey'd part that took me a LONG time to remove safely.

It means they done effed up lol they pretty much put a bandaid on an arterial bleed and expected it to work forever. Novice work instead of actually repairing it like it needed to be.

Well, not my Jeep, but I installed front shocks on msmoorenburg's jeep and helped with a new bumper and rear hatch install on another buddy's Jeep. Oh, and I watched bigjim350 work on his front shocks for a little while too lol.

I think my jeep made me sick. I had other priorities a week ago. I bought an xj and now I spend free time thinking of what I can do with it. I am now thinking of trips to the junkyard as Christmas presents. I was never a greases monkey and now try to find reasons to turn a wrench? WTH happened to me??

After getting a new set of grade 8 5/16-24x1.25 bolts and lock washers I finally managed to get the bugered out bolt from my front drive shaft where it mounts at the transfer case.

Put in the replacement until I can have the original rebuilt. The slip yoke spline has worn out.

Smoother ride into work today.
