Mine is doing that a little since I bent the lower control arm bracket. I had to adjust the steering wheel alignment afterwards. I did a self alignment when I installed the tie rod and tie rod ends. I may have front and back of tire set to the same distance, from what I understand that will cause it to float around.

Mine is just a slight wander. I was shooting for a 1/8" toe in. Really need two tape measures, two people measuring and one person adjusting the tie rod! :smiley-laughing021:

well this is last night. but i took the jeep for a ride in the rocks to stretch her legs out. went up a local canyon called providence canyon, on the way up i found a stock liberty coming down with the driver throwing rocks out of the way so he did not hit them.... it was not like it mattered at this point his rockers were f-ed up. it was kind of funny that they would even try.

Got the harness for the overhead console and auto dimming mirror from a salvage yard and wired up the zj console in Red. Lights work and compass and other things come on. Compass had the wrong direction showing. Don't have a temperature sensor but I'm ot worried about that. If I can't tell whether it's hot or cold out, I should probably not be driving. A couple of the wires from the mirror didn't match up with the XJ just have to figure out what's what so I can power it up too.

Here's a million dollar idea. Make those and sell them, just put slots at the bottom where you have the welds and sell with large hose clamps. Then they will be able to attach them to the axle with the hose clamps. People without welders will have the additional protection for their Dana 30!

Yeah, it's not a pro paint job. It's got some runs under the handles on the passenger side too. He did the cut and buff on it himself and had a friend shoot the white enamel on it (which is tougher than regular paint), then he did all the black himself. Pretty decent for an amateur paint job though I thought. It's what I like to call "good from far, but far from good." :smiley-laughing021:

Not that looks are important... :smiley-scared002: but I think that dark non reflective tint would look better. I guess Texas is different. I think the only windows that have to have the low tint percentage are drivers and passenger windows. I'm sure I have much darker than 15% from the factory on the sides and rear glass. Maybe there's an exception for factory tint, or the laws changed since 1998.

the FRONT windows NOW cannot be darker than 35%... IT WAS 20% ... which sucks for me cause I tinted the 20% up front and 5% backs last year...
Anyhow today on my jeep I did this stuff

oh so my jeep has been acting funny for over 3 years, it hesitates and kind stalls. So today i took it to Randy, Jeep tech, to get it Insured, as the check engine light is on and he said that he would get it done. So he calls me and says that he finally found out what was wrong with it, he thinks. The fuse to the 02 sensor heater thing-ma-gigger. But he said to get it inspected quick just in case that's not it.

pretty much ANY year dakota will get youthat from a 2wd a 4x4 will give you more height but Im not sure how much...I opted for dakota springs cause the dakota has a higher payload... which IF your towing anything it will offer less saggin springs...

I swung by the local pick a part and crawled under about 30 or so different vehicles to look at heat shields almost ALL early model vehicles had some formed hardened aluminum shield... the later models have a heat " sheet" I guess is what you would call it and it gets bolted with little bolts to the undercarriage along the side of the gas tank... I found ONE car that had the sheet and not a formed piece and that was from a 92 thunderbird... I got two pieces about 6X12" so hopefully that will cover my heating area... we shall see

you know how when your sick and you get passed the worst of it but a little bit still lingers around??? the jeep bug bit me with the longarm install and some renovations are still lingering...
Few years back I decided to make some speaker pods so I would still have tunes when I had the doors off...
This is what I made
http://i372.photobucket.com/albums/oo167/seivey/ZN50145.jpg
well after a few months I decided to cover them with fabric that I used for the headliner and cleaned it up a LOT...
Here you can see them attached to the overhead console after I wrapped them
http://i372.photobucket.com/albums/oo167/seivey/Mobile%20Uploads/kdk_0137.jpg
Well Today I was pretty tired of hearing people whack their head on them and tell me thats a stupid place for them SOOOOO I decided to steal another TJ innovative idea and relocate them to the lower dash area on the sides
Here is the final product... I will say it was a PITA due to metal backing on the other side of this panel but it was well worth it in my opinion

The sound is great and I can turn up the treble a little more without making my ears bleedsince they arent RIGHT there......

ALSO today I decided since I hadnt sold it I would just go ahead and install my CB in the overhead console area.... I did LOTS of chopping and "frankensteining"

DETOURS

Concept.......I gots no stink'in concept.......:headshake:......:smiley-scared002:
The basic deal is 'structural'......I take having the kid in the back pretty seriously, 2nd alot of this was previously based around having a Dana 300 transfer case, which I've since dumped.....but still need to contend with the previous changes put in place, everything has been shifted/moved to make room for the 300.........sooooooo...the console is all structural, tied to the floor/cage and new steel where the back seat used to be.......now I'm simply attempting to tie it all together without going silly with fabrication. As it sits, the entire top is now done, it bolts down from front to rear so I can re-access as needed........ie: Add 'cup holders' as required......:coffee:

Dual brakes, yepper....not leaving that out, it's always been part of the plan, with one wheel locked, more or less spin around that greasey obstical. You can do the same with line lockers, but this cost me 'nothing'....

Next up I need contact cement to cover the new center area, ran out of steel, need to enclose the passenger side.....then it's virtually done.

There will be a single center seat in the rear for the boy........lots of storage will become available on either side.....

Wanted to reuse the carpet, but I learned today I did'nt save it or did'nt bring it during the move.......kinda sucks, I guess I bed line the floors. I'll be putting 'as much' of the interior back in as possible.

Freak'in Sheriff's gonna FREAK when he has to inspect this thing........:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

FInished trimming my fenders and put some spray on bedliner in the fender wells. Got a question for anyone else that has not put on flares after trimming. What do you guys use (if anything) on the edges after trimming? I have some of that black plastic door edge trim that just kind of pinch grips the metal. Was just wondering if there is anything better to use. I'm thinking maybe some black rubber hose siliconed along the edge might look a little better.

Got one from a 98 Grand Cherokee and got the rear view mirror and harness too. The front end was gone so I wasn't able to get the temp sensor.
Then I found a Dodge caravan with an overhead console that matched the grey and looked like the overheads in the Cherokees so I pulled it. I didn't bother with the harness, just switched the computer over to this one. One nice thing about the caravan console, No torx screws!!!

There are 2 wires for the mirror that I have not been able to hook up. Black with yellow stripe and black with white stripe. They don't match anything on Reds harness and I havn't found anything online to show what they could hook into so they are just taped off for now.

The paint didn't match exactly and it's not as pretty as cloth would be, but I like it, I also like the pattern the fibers in the board made. I was going to add more primer and paint to cover it up and make it smooth and even, but after the second coat I liked the look of it.:)

I used Rust-Oleum spray cans I got from Auto Zone. It does not have the texture like the orange on the XJ but still looks good. It's 3-4 bucks a can. It took 3 cans to do the back half. I'll do the front half next weekend.

lol well it's in my continuing thread about efan override switch. I had tried a wiring scheme that looked to me to be the best hope of having such a thing with a 97+ that WOULDN'T ignite the "CHECK ENGINE" light. It seemed to come on when I would hit the override switch, then it would go off much later. Then it just stayed on all the time. I was concerned that perhaps another code was coming up, so I checked in and it was the code for the efan not being connected. I thought about why the circuit would cause this problem and decided I would try a different 12 volt source, one that was constant, from the battery. So now the light has been off for a few days, and about 3 drives. After a week I'll pronounce it fixed.

The override switch information is inside another post, so what I'll do it make it an article with just my bits after I'm sure it's good.

I don not know how true this is, (not having anything to do with your shock nut coming loose) I work at a business that sells and installs mainly wheels and tires, but some of the things we sell, we send out to have the install done and one of them does our suspension work (lift/lower).
When I had my lift installed I asked them why they did not install the shock boots?
They told me I did not want them because they get more shock replacements due to debris getting stuck inside the shock boot causing the shock to fail in numerous ways, then customers would be back thinking it is a defective part.
I told them I thought that is what the boot was supposed to do was keep the moisture and dirt out so that would not happen? He said "Yea, you would think? It's just not the case."
I think it looks cooler with the shock boots, but I guess function is more important.
