yeah I recall him, he's a XD forum friend?

yeah that's him! I just PM'd him on that board and he said to ask him next week, not sure of his schedule. So I guess if I dont hear from him or doesnt work out we can go out and do some shooting.

My new shocks came in so I put them on, finished up some loose ends on the lift and went for a test drive. I figured going up from 4.5" to 6.5" was going to cause some drivability problems, this thing drives AWESOME now! Went and drove 30+ miles on nasty back roads to "test" my fab work:thumbsup:!!!

I installed a new Curt Manufacturing receiver hitch today. Install only took 3 hours. It would have been quicker if they had given me the right size bolts that thread into the weld nuts on passenger side. The kit came with 12mm bolts. The weld nuts are actually 7/16". I also broke the head off the tailpipe/heatshield bracket, as well as 2 easy outs. Got her done though, looks great too!:driving:

Had it towed to the shop after it threw a belt... then as I got the new one one finally (on the side of the highway in the middle of the night).. I heard something pissing on the ground... after investigation I found what I am sure is the reason I lost the previous belt.. The whole pulley on the water pump is wobbling and moves in and out of the water pump... and also drained whatever water there was in the pump and nearby hoses... So @ the shop it sits waiting to have the water pump replaced.. ( would do it myself.. but don't really have the free time right now unfortunately.. would much rather save that money trust me!!)...

Yeah I love the look of the lifted Durango's.... If the one we had when we got back stateside, had a 5.9L instead of the 4.7L I would have kept it.. but it was right after the change in design of the front suspension components... so there was no real lift options for it.. That and I knew that it would never out perform a Jeep on the trails.. Well not with the limited budget I have to work with..

I picked up my XJ from the shop from having some work done, after it decided to leave me stranded on my way to work a few nights ago.. Spent way more of my "fun" money than I wanted too.. Spent the money that was supposed to go to purchasing the items I wanted for the XJ... not the items the XJ decided it wanted!!

Received an e-mail from my wife with this picture...

http://xjtalk.com/images/special/99lowoil.png

No unusual noises coming from the engine my wife responds when I ask her.

So I picked up a oil pressure switch at the auto parts and when I get home I start the 1999 up. Oil pressure is fine. I wiggle the connector while my wife watches the gauge. Nothing changes. Engine sounds fine.

So I changed the oil pressure sensor (a.k.a. oil pressure switch) and I notice the oil pressure gauge was actually above zero with the engine off and key to the run position prior to changing the sensor. With the new sensor it is stilling at almost zero.

Time will tell. While I was out there working on the 99 I went ahead and changed the belt.

Oh oil looked pretty and it was 1/2 into the SAFE region. I changed the oil about a week ago. :D

Tony what oil filter do you have? If it's a fram, change it! and then use it as a target!

I find it funny that everyone has this same opinion of Fram filters, or any time there is an issue with oil pressure, it automatically goes to a Fram filter as being the issue... I have run nothing but Fram filters on all of my vehicles, as well as any that I have ever worked on... and never once had any issues, not to mention my family all runs them on every vehicle that has an oil filter, with no issues...

And for what I did to my Jeep today... I bought it a 227 piece mechanics tool set to replace the smaller socket set that has been in the back of the XJ since I bought it..

I've had personal experience with how crappy Frams are. First my own jeep, the oil filter collasped and starved the motor for oil. Good by motor.

Second, friend kept complaining about oil pressure dropping. He replaced with another fram filter, sensor and oil. Kept doing the sparratic oil pressure drop. Until one day it did it and there went his motor.

did a little search:

https://www.google.com/#sclient=psy-ab&hl=en&safe=active&source=hp&q=2000+f250+v10+oil+pressure+drops&pbx=1&oq=2000+f250+v10+oil+pressure+drops&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=13776l15227l2l15726l4l4l0l0l0l0l250l686l0.3 .1l4l0&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_cp.,cf.osb&fp=7a815af5c44e7640&biw=1510&bih=805

that is why. I have used frams for 15+ years and no problems. Dont know if they skimped on quality or different manufactoring, but I will NOT put another in any of my rides.

I found fuel for the low price of $3.29 and filled up, last time it was almost $3.50 and I changed the oil. Way to cold here to finish lift :(

I didn't buy any but I did see it on the sign for $2.99 yesterday. :cheerleader:

Well by the way my wife and my XJ think, they are.. And I guess they are for me right now... But I would have much rathered spent the money on items I wanted for the XJ... But at least it all still went to the XJ instead of other items the wife would prefer..

And for what I did to my Jeep today... I bought it a 227 piece mechanics tool set to replace the smaller socket set that has been in the back of the XJ since I bought it..

I've never had a problem with a FRAM filter as well, and I was running them from about 1978, but I have read enough posts that made me not take a chance on having a reason to fear FRAM. I started running Puralator about 2 years ago.

gas for $2.99 is a faint memory in IL :(

My $0.02 on Fram is my mom always used them as long as she can remember no problems, untill my XJ thats all I ran and no problems I now run K&N now cause they have that nut welded on them for easy removal and I get them really cheap.

I think if I could get K&N filters at a decent price... I would pick them up over Fram.. but for now I'll probably keep picking up Frams until I see some issue.. I haven't had any issues as far as oil pressure fluctuation as of yet..

I still haven't done anything to this XJ besides drive the living crap out of it! What an awesome vehicle! I'd have been driving one a LONG time ago had I known just how tough they were. I've got a new set of neoprene seat covers that are water proof for it that will be great for when I get off the water and out of my kayak, but I haven't put them in yet. I'll need to give her a good cleaning and vacuuming so that I can post up some pics.

I have been continuing to get good fuel mileage out of this thing, though. This little 5-speed kicks butt!!!

300 miles and still have 1/4 tank left!!!

Yup, the light parade. I will be with the Northern Recon Group, all vets with antique military vehicles. I am going to put the inverter in it under the hood and run the lights. This group seems to be fairly active so I am looking forward to being with them. And like XJtalk, it's free.

Well since the water pump got replaced the other day as well as a flush and new antifreeze, I decided to flush the crap out of the heater core that the standard flush didn't take care of... I actually have heat again.. hopefully this time for good, since I have clean(er) antifreeze in the engine...

And also tore the drivers side rear trim panel off so that I could re-install the cb-ant. mount with some longer bolts, w/ washer, lock washer and nut this time, since the self tapping machine style screws didn't last too long last time.. and then once I got it all hooked back up got on the CB for a brief second to make sure it worked.. and got to talk to a trucker down south of me by quite a few more miles than I would think possible with a bearcat unit.. not that I am complaining... now if only I could talk to the guys I drive around every day on the road.. The XJ looks way better with the ant. installed again than it did without it.. but it still looked good regardless!!

Check engine light came on and code read TPS so I removed the rugged ridge spacer I put in a few months ago and cleaned the throttle body up with some throttle body cleanerwas a little too careless cleaning up the IAC sensor, or it was time to change as well. So after buying those two Red was stalling out still so I had the check engine codes read agin and then the MAP sensor was bad. All three were stock from the start so it may have just been time. Either that or I damaged them removing them from the throttle before cleaning. Had to wait until I got paid Thursday to get the MAP sensor. After finally got that one on started her up and let it idle for awhile. Died after the first couple minutes. Second start ran fine and the idle seems to have smoothed out. Got to drive Red yesterday for the first time in about a week with no problems at all!

Finally got around to installing a new louder dual horn setup from a Ford 1-ton panel truck.. Got to love hitting up junk yard near a base that has the old vehicles, or rather a brand new vehicle that got rolled in the first 1k miles to can horns off of.. They are not air horn loud (unfortunately), but they are def. quite a huge step up from the old smaller horns that were on the XJ.. wondering if they would be even louder if I hooked the ground to an actual ground, not the bolt that holds the horns to the mounts..

<Last Night>
Hooked up the OBDII Bluetooth Adapter that I got for Christmas using Torque Pro on my Droid. Discovered I had 4 error codes. One was due to the missing rear O2 sensor, and the other 3 seem to be transmission related.

After alittle research, I discovered that my Jeep starts in drive. Looks like somebody bypassed the NSS and then removed the CEL lamp from the original cluster. I only discovered the CEL after I swapped for a sport cluster with a tach.

Tim, if you end up doing some wiring from scratch, use the ground wire from the starter relay. It goes to the NSS which then grounds it in neutral and park.

Thanks for the info. I'm hoping the PO didn't hack the wiring too much. Hopefully I can pull the NSS from my parts Jeep and fix it the right way. I'll probably tear the NSS from the parts jeep down and clean it before installing.

It was in the 60's today here, thank goodness, I hate the cold.. I wish it was in the 80's or 90's here like it is there!!

I picked up a new ice scrapper/brush for my XJ... since I didn't have one last year, figure might as well get ready for the snow, cause I have an odd feeling this will be another bad snow year.. Also washed all the mud off of it (don't worry not for good, just for the next change)... also picked up a can of Rustoleum bedliner paint, so I can paint my front and rear bumper.. Haven't seen too much feeback on the Rustoleum brand spray can liner, so hopefully it will turn out good... Anything is better than the faded look I have now..

Go to harbor freight get a drum sanding kit for a power drill use the biggest one and slowly work the drum through the throttle body untill it is a smooth shot all the way through. it wont hurt it to be a little over/under in spots AS LONG as u stay bellow the butterfly it is 60 mm at the top necked down to 55ish so stay on the bottom half and when its straight through take some scotch bright aka green dish scrubby from kitchen sink and polish inside smooth. Pic of mine and thats exactly how i did it.

Just make sure to distribute sanding evenly to make sure the bore stays true and there are no worries it can fluctuate a little since it is after the butterfly the boring occurs.

Yeah I picked up the sanding drum kit from them.. and the largest size is way too big for the TB.. the second largest will take it to 63mm.. so am going to have to work the next size around a little bit to get it to cut evenly.. I started on it some with dremel bits, just to get the majority of the meat out.. hoping to finish it on my next day off work..

Power steering pump went out so I had to pull it and pick up a new one. After several minutes trying to figure out how to remove the pulley I finally looked online and found you need a special tool. Prices ran from 40 to $80 thankfully O'Reillys rents one for $30!!! going to put it on tomorrow.
