my cable has jumped as i accelerate since i have got it. I was told that all it needs is some grease. Can i grease it while its on? When i talk it off how would i grease it. does the rubber around the cable slide off? 89 wagoneer I-6.

Just add some oil down the cable. You will have to take your instrument cluster out to do it because you want the oil to work its way down the cable.
what oil can i use? Would 3 in 1 Oil work?
I would use some motor oil if possible. Something a little heavier than 3 in 1.
can i pull the cable out where it goes in the transmission? lube it up then feed it through the bottom up?

What about removing the cable and using graphite as the lubricant?
