The factory locker was tied into a switch on the transfer case that didn't allow you to engage it unless in low range. Buuuuuuuttttttt, this was a feature that reduced any liability due to people engaging a locker when they shouldn't. You can engage it at any speed without hurting it. The only thing you should avoid is engaging it with only one wheel spinning
