I would say 31's with out triming maybe 32's with some triming

Yeah, 31s are as large as you can go. Use the stock wheels or some with same offset. If you space the wheels out, they can rub at full stuff otherwise

Yep, 31'' but if you get 31x10.50's on stock wheels then they'll rub on the lower control arms near full lock. It's never really an issue for me except in tight parking lots.
If this means anything. i have a 3.5" lift and cut fenders with 31s and they look small.
too bad theres not just a rule of thumb measurement from tire to fender but then again flex and spring rate apply all the time.
stock cherokee tires were like 28-29" so lift an inch...inch taller tire. 2" lift would make a 31" tire perfecto.
