Thanks to everyone who gave me tips in the aw4 swap, we got it in and most everything's fine. My front axle though is questionable. It clunked when turning by hand and was weeping. I picked up a pinion seal and slapped in one there to hopefully stop the leaking until I could properly service the diff.
But, it wasn't the right one even though it was listed for 2001 Cherokee. The one I got has no lip so it slides into to pumpkin. It's holding alright for now, just a few drips here and there, but now I get vibration pretty bad sometimes when I accelerate in 2wd, don't know if that is related.
Any tips? Can someone give me a link to the rig pinion seal to order?
For clarity, jeep in question is 2001 xj, 4.0 aw4 4x4, dana30 front axle.
