The legend has it that you can disconnect it and wiggle it out with some finesse without disconnecting the AC lines and everything. I replaced mine when i had my dash out for the heater core and evap core replacement. It was super easy to do with the whole heater box on the ground in the garage.
If you need to replace your AC evap core, nows the time though. In my opinion, id say get it all done at once.

You should be able to get it done without doing all that
230 hp 4.3L Chevy
Built 4L60E with manual lockout
Atlas 4 speed
Griffin radiator
On board air
Warn 9.5ti on custom bumper
7.5" RE front and bastard pack rear on custom long arms
30 gal gas tank
lockers
And a bunch of other stuff
Thanks for the replies I did get it out and a new one in fairly easily. But the motor still sounds like it is rubbing against something when it turns. I do have all speeds now
If I recall correctly, I had to put a small washer on each bolt that holds it in, because the aftermarket blower cage was rubbing on the heater box...
