Has anyone built their own bumper if so how did you start? how did you tie it in to the unibody? d rings or tow hooks? looking to get started on a bumper soon and i'm looking for ideas

Lawrence, the first thing you need to do is decide on a design. In other words what you want it to look like. I did that and went from there. The next thing to do is tie it into the unibody. That is done with a plate that incorporates the three bolts used for the bumper at the end of the frame and then the bolt hole about a foot back that is used for the stock tow hook bracket. Also, on the drivers side use the plate to reinforce the steering box with the three bolts that secure it to the frame and kill two birds with one stone. You can fab your own, or buy those on line. Also, one of our vendors Dirt Bound Off Road has a weld together kit and would probably sell the mounting plates if asked.
