What kind of oil are you using? Those bearings don't look good

I've been using 10-40 quakerstate, toying with the idea of switching to synthetic

I am not sure I like synthetic. I switched to it in my Subaru with turbo. Wasn't making it, even though it is recommended now. I switched back to Valvoline Racing oil and added Power Punch. World if difference in the turbo and VVT function, which works off oil pressure

I've been on the fence too, especially since the 4.0l is flat tappet

Racing oil is made for flat tappet engines, since many of then have flat tappet cams with high lifts

Here you can see better pics of the defects.

I have chosen the best from the 12 352 casting rods, the 707's only had 2 good rods out of the 6 and the 2 good were no better than the ones I picked from the 352's
Now I can pick the lightest one and start cleaning it up!

I did lots today but only took the one picture

Yes that's Mort's block in the sink, honed all the cylinders, have some scoring in a couple but not too worried about it.

All 6 Pistons are now within .1 grams of each other.

Also cleaned the block and got it ready for reassembly, just need to get a rear seal. And have to order a set of arp connecting rod bolts so that I can start balancing the con rods.

Ok so here are the Pistons,

As you can see they are all very close in weight now

This was the lightest and you can see not much has been done to it, all edges have been softened and that's really it.

And this was the heaviest, I had to remove 7 grams to get this one to weight, as you can see I had to remove quite a bit.

Was yours do to neglect? My nephew didn't check small oil leek.
And it turned into catastrophic oil lose. The cooler lines went.

No, mine is due to 300K. You do have to keep the cooler lines with fresh O rings, or they will leak. They get hard quickly. I have a 93 and I am putting my third set of injectors in it. Those just don'e last, even with getting GM stuff. I think I will go to a different Chevy engine, depending on what CA smog police will let me put in

    I had a blazerZR2
That 4.3 had 350k on her. And yes general maintenance is key.
Yank that 4.3 out and drop in a TB350
I love Indiana and Ohio is we don't have the smog police.
What makes me mad is that i told him a week ago to have it looked at.
It would have saved him alot of and time
