I Have done it several times for SYE's The V8 Zj shafts are a little stouter and actually appear the same as the older tom woods shafts before they started having their own forgings made.

My last 2 door XJ ran ZJ shafts front and rear with an AA SYE and no modification. They both came from pull a part in Charlotte and cost 26.00 combined. I did have the front axle about 2" more forward than stock but ZJ shafts vary in length so much there is a lot of lengths to choose from. I actually removed the tom woods shafts and replaced them with ZJ shafts. I was able to sell them for 600.00 and buy a new set of 36" TSls for the jeep.

Most of the 93 and 94 ZJ shafts were no good but the later ones were awesome.

I presently run one on my current 2 door with 7" of lift.
The splines sit at perfect engagement. The ZJ shafts also have a nice boot to keep things clean.
