Thanks! I followed a link over to here from Cherokee Forum. Interesting site, enjoyed looking around. First off, I'm retired Navy, grown kids out of the house. I'm primarily a ZJ guy.

Just so you know it does get dirty! Projects planned for this summer include, install the Detours Backbone I have, sliders that were originally for a Wrangler LJ need to be lengthened and installed. And I want to fab a rear bumper. I might try my hand at turning the Backbone into a full bumper if time allows.

I have a 90 XJ that my daughter drives, and I'm thinking of getting her something different to drive and taking the XJ back. Not sure what I'll do with it yet, but it was originally bought in rough shape as a beater. Thought for certain she would wreck it. but 4 years later, its still running decently. When she didn't wreck it after 6 months, we did put a garage paint job on it, John Deere Yellow.... I figured the little XJ was going to get demolished and then I was going to truggy it... But its a fun driving rig and gets my daughter 23-24 MPG. Although, it stalls now and again and I don't know why.

The Ranger in the above pic is a toy. It is going to get a long arm Y-link radius arm setup this summer with a D30 to replace the TTB front suspension. And probably get a Chrysler 8.25" as well, to get rid of the Ford 7.5". It too was painted in the garage. I bought it for my son 7 years ago, with the big front fenders and a 6" lift. I had to replace the cab due to serious rust issues and the project sort of snowballed. It has a 2.3l 4 banger, 5 speed, 4.10s and when I parked it 4 years ago, it was getting 28MPG.

I've also refurbished a 94 Explorer, including rebuilding the auto trans. First time to do that. 2 years later, my son is still driving it and loves it.

Undecided yet, but it might get the 6" lift kit from the Ranger under it. Including the extended length radius arms.

    Thanks for the welcome...

The XJ looks to be in nice shape, I'd put my money into lifting that one!

    Welcome aboard!

It is amazing what a 50/50 paint job can do... (50 feet/50MPH) Its not in that bad of shape really. But I've had my fights with it. Its got 224,000 miles or so under it. Makes more than few odd noises. I've replaced the heater core once, will never do that again. And its not getting as warm inside as it was so, who knows. If I can resolve the stalling issues I'll be happy. And then I should replace the rear pinion bearing and seal. I have been enjoying some Low center of gravity builds on Pirate... That could be a possibilty...

I might add, I do have probably everything I need to lift the XJ, including add a leafs. One other thought though for the XJ includes reducing its weight drastically, and converting it to electric drive... Just a thought process. But it would be a kick in the pants at the local offroad park..

Ever dismantle and clean the throttle body in that XJ?
Theres no reason for stalling, other than dirt, vacume leak, bad cad........

Took it apart a couple years ago when I had a problem keeping it running, replaced all sensors either with new or with parts from another XJ... Turned out to be the little rubber hose on the fuel pump in the tank had rotted... I have good pressure (measuered), and have again replaced the TPS and done the alignment. I do have another ECM to try next...
