Cog Np231 to NP242 shifting question.

Alrighty. I got everything in and connected. Im still working on putting in the new shifter bracket. So it drives good in 2wd. But when I switch into 4 (part or full time) it takes a-cupple of seconds before it fully activates? Or when I go from 4 to 2 it does the same thing, Takes some messing around to get it to switch? I also get some funky vibes in 4wd. But I have no problems at all in 2wd. Also because I am switching from a 231 to a 242 Ive read that you need to drop the transmission mount about 1 inch. Is it possible that when I put the new shifter bracket in it will be fixed? Also the front driveshaft is good already had it up on a lift and checked it. I am doing this at my schools auto shop.

Tahth is normal. There is a synchromesh assembly that revs up the chain and front drive shaft. Until it reaches speed, it won't really be in. Conversely, it takes a little bit to disengage. Even though you shift the lever, it is really a little spring that does the job.
