    Default Broken sail/vent window... :(

The driver side vent window on my 89 XJ broke a few days ago...something "poped" and now when I open the window, it just turns freely. There is no tension anymore like there used to be or like the passenger side has.

Do I have to totally disassemble the door and remove the main window to get access to the vent window? Any known repair?

I don't know of any repairs. And yes you do have to remove the window to get it out.

sounds like you have a broken flat spring. Like 4.3 says, you have to disasemble the window to be able to get to it. a body shop may be able to point you to the right jobber for the part/s you will need to fix that.

Yep when you peel your door skin of you will see the rod sticking down from where the wing window is there is a tension spring there. You can adjust the spring from a bolt underneath, so try that before you go junkyard hunting.
