I'm thinkin I might need to check mine... Went to start it today and it would crank but not fire up. Good voltage, I can hear the fuel pump cycle when the key is on. tested the coil and the primary was showing WAY too much resitance, so I got a new one but it didn't seem to be the problem. So Now I'm thinking it's probably the CPS or the distributor. Is the CPS something that just goes out without warning, or is it a gradual thing? I'm wondering if it could explain the sputtering/stalling symptoms I've been having for a while now.

When mine went bad the first time I had my door welded earlier that day so not sure if that is what caused it. This time what happened is that my brother broke it while helping me pull the motor out

Yes Toebee the cps can be the cause of sputtering and cutting out. That's what mine did, even to the point of the engine just dying while driving along. Replaced the sucker and haven't had that problem since.
