    Icon10 Whoooop Whooop

I'm going to pick up my new 2 door on Monday (or Wednesday if I'm not back from CA yet).

I've known the owner for years and he's taken great care of it.
    Drawing a blank at the moment if it's a 90 or 91.
I know it's got the 4.0 HO automatic. It's red, 2.5" lift... and was his daily driver until he bought a truck ~ at his wife's insistence.

So, over the summer, I'm going to pull suspension off my '89 to make it a 5" lift. Tires are the same size, but mine have less than 1500 miles on them.
    ... and maybe the stereo.

and oh yeah... I have the stock tailgate tire mount. So I'll be pulling that too.

    Question...

The engine is fine now. However, I have most of the stuff to rebuild.
    * bought for my '89... and I believe most are compatable (bearings, rings, lifters, ...) Would need an oil pump, cam, gaskets.

I was pondering getting the cylinders board out (sp?)... and having the engine fully rebuilt / vs. me doing a garage rebuild.

Is it worth it to get the cylinders board out?
...and would the ECU need to be adjusted to to with that?

Or is it better just to get a ring job and cam swap and do the rest on my own?

If the engine needs a rebuild, then bore it. All the times I have just re ringed and engine it started using oil quickly.

Ecu, cannot be adjusted, flashed or anything, but you will still see an increase in power by boring.

Nice score! Look forward to pics and the build.

The HO 4.0s first year was 91, so that's probably the year as 87-90 had the renix. You'll love the HO.

I saw ... Whoop Whoop ... and thought you had been to a remote Aussie location.

    Sounds like a good score.

I agree with others ... give it a rebore if you can.
Just rings, requires a hone for a "proper" job anyway,
... so go the extra step if your wallet allows.

Yeah ... like a location ... same as you fellas use boonies or boondocks.

Normally spell it without an "h".

I would only bore it if it needed it ( deep scratches ) if it's clean I would get it honed put a good cross hatch back on it re ring it and your good to go.

All in your budget like carves said.
I am new to the 4.0 world. But have done both.
On Chevy and had better luck with boreing.
