    Options I would suggest ....

    - Leave the swaybar off if its an offroader only.

    - Have a look at aftermarket swaybar links - and see if there a vertical/horizontal option/parts.

    - Get an XJ sway bar on the cheap and see if it easily fitted. Aftermarket swaybar mounts have bushes with a variety of internal diameters.

    - Dont cut and weld what you have ... its a one piece unit designed for certain stresses and strains. The weld will be a weak point and most likely break. You could sleeve the join/end weld and rosebud weld it ... but only as a very temporary fix ..
