Sometimes there is a front and rear shoe. They are different and sometimes difference in thickness. Also you can smack the shoes a little to make sure the cylinders are collapsed all the way
230 hp 4.3L Chevy
Built 4L60E with manual lockout
Atlas 4 speed
Griffin radiator
On board air
Warn 9.5ti on custom bumper
7.5" RE front and bastard pack rear on custom long arms
30 gal gas tank
lockers
And a bunch of other stuff
If you are reusing the old drum it probably has a rusty ridge on the edge making it difficult to get it on. A little wiggle and push should get it on.
The short shoe goes toward the front of the vehicle.
Thanks guys.. It's new drums too. I took a bolt and gave the wheel cylinder plunger a lil push. It's on there now. A little tight but I can force the wheel to turn.
I vow this is my last drum brake saga.
Thanks again guys.

Yeah drum brakes are certainly no fun to change out that is for sure.. I did the brakes on my friend's Scion XB.. and that was enough for me.. my 97 XJ needs the rear brakes done.. debating now if I want to do them, or just go ahead and do a disc conversion.. I'll do disc brakes any day over drums... ** and I know the drum brakes on the back of the XJ are far more in depth then the rear brakes on the XB**
