Man, it's been awhile since I checked in on this thread. Though I'd run a bit of an update. About 6 months after the previous post I blew the engine up my Trailblazer and bought a new to me DD (ended up buying a 2013 Sierra)…only took less than 7 days before I drilled the roof (same location as the 4 door pictured above).
Anyway, here is how some of that turned out.
The antenna is difficult to see (it's almost behind the OnStar antenna from that angle). It is called a Panorama Sharkee. In the fin it houses a quad-band cellular antenna, GPS antenna, and 2.4/5 GHz antenna (single chain only). The whip is a tri-band whip which covers 145-176/430-480/765-896 MHz. Here is the interior (y'all can tell I obviously like the GMT900 platform).
Hmm…that PM400 looks mighty familiar.
Also, changed jobs and traded my work supplied Freedom Communications (General Dynamics) R8000A out for an R8000B. For those who are unaware, the R8000 is a FM based service monitor which is capable of testing FM (wide, narrow and ultra-narrow), P25 Phase 1 (I think there is now a Phase 2 upgrade but we are still 2 years from local migration), DMR Tier II and Tier III, as well as NXDN. However, I have also picked up one of these (it was given to me due to lack of modern system support) as a personal monitor.
Motorola (General Dynamics) R2001B. It'll support FM, AM, SSB, and CW…so a worthwhile save.
