The 4.7 is a great motor, IF it's taken care of. If the previous owner let it over heat or didn't keep up the maintenance, it will have problems. I just had my 4.7 rebuilt and it is great. Now, I just need to take care of it. Personally, I would rebuild the 4.7 and not deal with the swap out.

I'd have to agree with Cody. Not based on my direct experience owning a 4.7 but just what I've read over months & months of WJ research. Keep up with oil changes & just some basic common sense like stop driving when the temp gauge goes higher than normal. Apparently the aluminum heads are prone to warping pretty quickly when temps rise.

I had a WJ 4.0 and miss it terribly. But this time around I'm going for the 4.7. The extra power on tap is VERY nice to have. My dad has an 02 I might end up with
