95 xj blower motor

On my 95 DJ the bower motor works on all settings heat and AC except defrost. When I put it on defrost I can't hear the motor tuning on either heat or ac. But the minute I put it on a different setting like the dash or floor or bi-level or something the blower motor works. Does any one know what's wrong?

You probably need to clean some contacts or replace the selector. It is supposed to channel current to the blower switch in all those positions, but not in the off position. You will have to pull the bezel and remove the whole assembly.

Is it called just a selector or is it called a resister or something

It would be the selector in the dash. If it was the blower resistor you would only have the high speed on the blower in all settings
