    Default D44 Saveable?

Don't know where to put this...

Is the housing savable? I'm not worried about the gouges in the back, but I'm worried about the spots by the bearing caps. I'm assuming the pinion race is replaceable.

As long as there are no cracks, yes. If there are any burrs on the edge, those can be removed. You were going to regear anyway right?

So just get rid of these burrs and run it?
Going to 4.88s and full width I think.

Yes, take a dremel and knock off any little burs on the edge. It is the machined surface as a whole that counts. Those surfaces hold the bearing race, but also act as an alignment device. So as long as the bearing race will fit in there straight and the caps go down all the way it will be good
