Default No Spark, help? Auto to manual question as well.

I am looking at trading my 84 Toyota Pickup for an 87 Cherokee Laredo XJ. Owner says it's not receiving spark, and that he already tried the "unplug the connector (don't what it goes too, but it's above the intake mani)" method, and it didn't work. Any ideas on what to check and/or replace? The owner has already replaced the distributor cap and rotor.

I will probably follow through with this trade, just because I am f-ing desperate for an XJ.

My auto to manual swap question is: will Wrangler pedals and driveshafts work in an XJ? I know the Grand Cherokee pedals are different than the XJ, but want to know if a set of Wrangler pedals would work, and I'm just not sure about the driveshafts (mostly because I don't know the wheel bases on these).

If Wrangler pedals won't work, are there any aftermarket companies that still make the pedal assembly?

    Sorry if this is redundant.

Never mind on the pedals, I found a site that has XJ pedals for only 40. But the question about the driveshafts is still valid.

I may be wrong but I don't think they will. I know you can use a Grand driveshaft after a few mods. Things are bout bullet proof. And that's for when you have a SYE also. But like I said I don't think you can. There will be a few others on that know a lot more then me

I read that the CPS might fix this problem? It's only a 2 entrance fee for local self-service junkyard, they have a TON of these older Cherokees in, and it's like 2 for a sensor ... I may even find a 7 set of pedals!!

Yes, CPS is a common problem. Get two and keep one for a spare. Also, the wrangler stuff won't swap over.
