    Default CarMD - Gourmet Popcorn?

Well I saw this infomercial for CarMD a few minutes ago and it reminded me to make this post.

UNBELIEVABLE! They are selling an OBD II scanner for between 100 and 150!

Now they do have value added stuff...

Securing the best deal when buying a used car.

    Okay thats all I see.

They make a claim on the infomercial that you could save up to 2000 in having to replace a damaged catalytic converter. REALLY?!?!?! UP TO 2000 for a catalytic converter?!?!?!?

Are we talking about 1980 catalytic converter prices?

Anyway I won't argue the point that having an OBDII scanner isn't a good thing but spending 100 is insane.

I spend 25 for a OBDII bluetooth "nub" that I leave connected to the port all the time, and 1.99 for the Torque application for my smart phone. Oh and when there is a check engine light, it will read the code and then look it up for you on the Internet. Another "CarMD" feature.

This whole thing reminds me of the popcorn you buy already packaged at the store. A bag of microwave popcorn was what, 1 a pouch, 2? 1 brown paper bag, a few kernels of popcorn, salt, and some oil. Staple the bag closed and microwave. Total cost 10 cents? Don't even get me started on the gourmet popcorn!

There is no reason for you to spend your money on what you want to. I think everyone here is probably already in on the CarMD joke, but just in case I wanted to offer you my opinion and alternative to the gourmet popcorn alternatives of OBDII scanners...

That price tag was just for the single cat, not including installation. If I had paid to have it installed, probably close to 2K
