There's not much reason to change it unless you know it's not reading right. Hook up a mechanical gauge and test, or at least check for proper zero reading with the engine off.

I've been pleased with all of the Crown parts I've installed. I usually don't hesitate to buy their products except for sensors/sending units etc. that I buy Mopar-only.
Dexron/Mercon is specified in the owner's manual and service manual for '00-'01 XJs. As far as I know, Dex/Merc was the only factory fill ever used in the XJ AW4 and Chrysler began specifying ATF+4...
