All this talk makes me want to go out and redo my TJ now.
I did the whole setup from the TRE at the pitman arm down afew years back. It's still one of my favorite mods in terms of easy of installation, performance, price, and ease of replacement parts.
If you have not checked it out, check out Jeepstrokers.com. That's the best source for all things stroked 4 liter.
I've got a 232 out of a CJ, and I'm seriously thinking of building a 4.2 mini stroker.
The V8 ZJ driver's side TRE is the same size as the one for the pitman arm. A stock XJ driver's side TRE has a smaller shank. Plus with the V8 setup, you can adjust tow with an adjuster sleeve,...
Batteries are one of those things that I normally keep up on and buy the premium ones and replace them every few years. Even at that I always carry a set of jumper cables in the back of the Jeep.

I assumed they were just part of the backing plate. I got the plates and brackets as a unit.
One of the big secrets is that Moog makes most suspension/steering parts that are store brands. I found that out when I worked at an Advance about 10 years ago.
That's ok. I don't know what the hell they are called either. :smiley-taunt002:
Is that the little washer things with the fingers cut into them?
If so most hardware stores carry them, and I have had luck using the handle end of a small ratchet as a hammer to bend them back...
Did anyone see the Pawn Stars episode over the holidays where the guy brought in a fully restored M151?
Trade ya. My daughter claimed the 75 CJ5 I picked up.
I bet your's atleast runs. Currently it looks like it's cheaper to make a deal with a buddy of mine for a 304 than try to get the 232...
I know this is more extreme, but I pondered in pirate one day about a transverse leaf setup in a buggy/Jeep. I was pointed to this thread.

I'd put my money on Rough Country.
Maybe, but this s my parts jeep and I already hacked up the crossmember a little to get the tc skid plate off. Seems quicker just to cut it.
I'm also in ohio, the bolt heads could be a lump of...
That was fast, thanks for the info.
Being as I'm in ohio, I suspect an angle grinder will be the fastest way to drop the crossmember.
Not to drag up an old topic, but I'm trying to pull the 231 out of my parts XJ. Currently it has been cut in half and most of the floor/trans tunnel is gone up to the ridge where the front seat...
I may be a bit late, but you can use 97+ weather strip and get the double seal setup.
I actually had a guy with a 91 buy the weather strip from my 98 when I parted it.
For 97 plus, heated ia a plug and play mod. I swapped the heated out of my 98 Sport into my 97 SE.
You can also wire the 97+ mirrors on too a pre 97 with very little effort.
Jeep used nutstrips for skid plate & hitch installs. Their official name is sill plate reinforcement. JCR makes some nice aftermarket ones. I'd invest in a set of oems or aftermarket.
I'm...
I think Tony has installed an Aussie in his 8.25, but I'm not sure.
I just got an Aussie for my 29 spline 8.25 and was wondering. Can I just remove the center pin, pop the c clips, and pull the...
I found some nice desert digital camo ripstop fabric for my headliner replacement.
Great write up.
Red doesn't do a thing for me. Kind of seems wrong to have a red Jeep.

EDIT: MOSS Green. I used the site you got the sample pic from to get what I needed.
Can you get me the paint code for the dark green that had the sparkles in it? I want to paint the rest of my jeep to match the one fender.
