    Re: High idle, BS codes

    Ok, here's my conclusion...
The O2 codes and the high idle were not directly connected. What ended up curing the higher idle was actually replacing the TPS! What I'm thinking was going on was...

    Re: High idle, BS codes

I was thinking I may need that as well. Do you think this is the source of my high idle though? I thought as long as you have an upstream o2 it will run fine but still throw a code for the...

    Re: High idle, BS codes

O2 sensor is at the front of the exhaust pipe, before the muffler.

    Re: High idle, BS codes

So I was just out tinkering with the wiring, everything looked good so I got to thinking... I disconnected the plug from the TPS while running and it instantly started idling back down where it...

    Re: High idle, BS codes

I'll go check into the wiring, the connector looked good when I replaced it. I also removed and cleaned the entire TB.

    Re: High idle, BS codes

Up-stream has been changed twice within the last 20 miles or so.

Changed the IAC previously while working a stumble issue so that's pretty much new as well.

    High idle, BS codes

So the Jeep is idling around 1100-1300 RPM, from the time it starts to the time its warm and I shut it off. Other than that, it's running well.

Not sure if it's related but, I'm getting a CEL...

    Re: Stumble/hesitation and bad idle

4.3LXJ... you are my hero. You are 2 for 2 with me already haha! Also thanks to the others who had suggestions!

Went down to AZ for the scan, came back with 3 O2 codes! (I guess my CEL bulb is...

    Re: Stumble/hesitation and bad idle

I will get it down there tonight to get it read, I'm sure there are codes on it by the way it's running but I think the light is out of the CEL... We'll see what it pulls up.

    Re: Stumble/hesitation and bad idle

O2 sensor sounds like a good option! Previous owner said he did all the normal tune-up things, but never said anything about the o2 sensor so that very well could be it.

    As for the exhaust, it...

    Re: Stumble/hesitation and bad idle

From what I can tell, it seems to get worse the longer I drive it. It always fools me, I'll do something to it and take it out for a test where it acts great at first and then a little sputter, and...

    Stumble/hesitation and bad idle

Hey guys, just bought this 96 XJ, and it's having a hell of a time idling, and driving. All is good for the first few minutes, then as I'm just cruising along it will start to buck, jump, and...

Re: Gauge lights won't turn off

Thanks guys, I got the stereo all hooked up last night. Turns out that black wire with the spade connection was the ground, all I had to do was attach my black harness wire to it and all operates as...

Re: Gauge lights won't turn off

Is there a reason they ran a single wire from the ACC fuse location to the stereo? I thought the harness already took care of that?

Re: Gauge lights won't turn off

Wow, if I could hug you guys I would! I can see this place is going to come in handy!
There must have been something crazy going on with that wiring harness. I went to Walmart and picked up a new...

Re: Gauge lights won't turn off

Forgot to add my picture above. It appears to be plug and play, but the PO did made a mess of it so I'm tempted to try a new install kit, but I don't know if that would even make a difference?

Re: Gauge lights won't turn off

Thanks 4.3LXJ! I'm hoping it's that easy. I kind of figured they tapped into the wrong wire. I'm a little confused about which wire could be my problem so I took a pick in hopes someone could...

    Gauge lights won't turn off

Alright fellas, I just bought this Jeep and once I got home and drove it in the dark I found a very interesting problem.
