Been quite a while for an update. Things have been fairly smooth. Only one major issue and it was the water leak into the passenger side floorboard. Tried about a dozen different things but it...
Just thought I'd share some info for anyone wanting to change out their oil pan gasket and rear main seals. Specifically, for year 2000 XJ (since that's what mine is.)
According to most parts...
We had to take the dash apart. There's no real good way of doing it. We were able to do it without taking the steering wheel apart though. So the dash was just hanging loose on the drivers side and...
I put the Four Seasons brand evaporator core (PN 54188) and the Spectra Premium heater core (PN 93024) in this past April in my 2000 and both have been running great for me. Got them both off Amazon...
Forum sponsor Iron Man Andy has 2 different kinds of adjustable rear shackles. High quality and real nice guy!

If you have a bad sensor, you can just pop off that wiring harness and the sensor unscrews from it's place. No need for soldering wires, just FYI.
Yeah, the Magnaflow kit.
Also, the Flowmaster 10 series is a really mean sounding muffler. It's for "off-road use only", but it passed inspection everytime on my buddy's 4.0 WJ here in NC (until...
The kit for XJs is pretty nice. Real solid build. The sound is slightly louder than stock, and has a little more growl. It doesn't drone or overpower on a stock XJ. Might sound a little different...
Since we screwed up the AC control switch, we had to get a replacment. There weren't any locally that we were able to test to make sure worked properly.
So ended up going to Davey's Jeeps and they...
Yeah, luckily enough, we were able to pull the same switch out of my Dad's 99 XJ and try it in my XJ. And BOOYAH! It worked, it pushed the air through all the proper ducts.
So apparently, however...
We've hit a tiny bit of a snag.
Everything bolted in right and we made sure there was no connector left unsecured.
But... when we started the Jeep, and turned the selector for Recirc, Floor,...
Okay, well day 1 of evap core change is in the books.
It was pretty straightforward. We were lucky enough to find a copy of the FSM online, so any questions regarding order were easily handled....
In one of the guides I found, it said to put put 2oz of refrigerant oil in evap core when installing. Does this sound right? Can I literally pour the oil in the inlet side?
I'm sure this sounds...
Are there any specialty parts that are required to replace in addition to these? Tips?
ie: If i had to do it again, I'd make sure to do _____, _____, & ______.
Alright, here's the deal. AC has been flushed and dye twice to find a leak, no such luck. The shop that did it said it's probably the evaporator core.
I know it's a pain to get to, but apart from...
Well, that's disappointing. Pictures be foolin!
Maybe I missed it, but what color did you order? There are about 5 different shades of gray and your choice seems to match the visors extremely well.
.
This is an original HK? Or is it one of those PTR clones?
Well, on the brightside, there are only 3 components that it could be. The clockspring, the switches, and the servo under the hood.
But I'm not sure if there is a way to test if your JY...
Well, the Plastidip didn't hold up as well on a high traffic area...

This happened when some tires...
Wheels and tires are sold.
Dad wasn't happy with the road noise he was getting from the All Terrains, so we hooked him up. So that's why his old set is on the forum for sale!
Sourced out a set of five 15" Ecco wheels for...

These came off my Dad's XJ. He switched to something less aggressive for his DD. Can be separated if you want one or the other. These tires are...
Well, the past couple days have been cloudy and the temps were low so I couldn't ask for better conditions to get everything painted and ready to go back on!
From old faded plastic.......
