I don't think a B3.9 will fit (too tall). A B3.3 may but those are even more rare (think Bobcat skid steers) and are only EFI. Never tried to swap one. But we know a B3.9 will fit in a TJ so it...

A mechanically controlled 4BT vastly simplifies the electrical…especially if you're into pulling your own harnessing.

Man, it's been awhile since I checked in on this thread. Though I'd run a bit of an update. About 6 months after the previous post I blew the engine up my Trailblazer and bought a new to me DD (ended...
It was more like a cassette if I remember correctly.

I've never looked at living quarters construction before. Interesting though. I have several trailer projects that are upcoming in the distant future which will involve living quarters (not for...
That would be it.

On a similar note, I had to ask Freightliner how to remove the radio bracket in their new trucks. It's riveted in with hardened steel rivets...one simply does not drill them out. Best way we've found...
Stryker has an interesting HHCH for about $130 if memory serves correctly.

A lot of their stuff isn't even ruggedized but their roll bar mounts are pretty handy, at least what some friends tell me.

Looking good.

I'll take your emissions guff and raise you the Atlas (which didn't go out of production until 2011). I'll also raise you pretty much every mid-tier BMW, Porsche, and Merc.
The engines are long...
So they say…they also say it will not be available upon initial release as well. I'm actually quite curious as to the actual tech specs of the radio (what vocoder is in it).
Like Chrysler, I feel GM really made a mistake getting rid of the inline option. Ford did too but when you are too lazy to redesign your flagship pickup engine to meet California emissions regs you...
It does…98% of mobile installs you tune the antenna to match the system (antenna, feed line, radio) because it's easy to access.
About 6 months ago I was managing an antenna replacement job for...
Coax length comes into play. You can actually tune and or notch frequencies using specific lengths of coax. The 18 ft thing only apples to the non-tunable 108" whips, otherwise you match the antenna...
I haven't looked in awhile but I thought the sizing of the Atlas 4.2 used on the Trailvoy platform was pretty close. Only thing I miss about my trail blazer, that 4.2.

It is speced at Tier I which does not allow for digital repeater use.

Gives me an idea…
(Klaxon starts sounding in the distance )

People still use SSB on VHF/UHF? I know they do its just not common. It's actually probably about as common as P25 in the amateur world…which a Baofeng can't do either.

I've never bought one…built a few and the results are similar to yours. People can't believe it's mobile and 100W or less.

Personally I'll use a screwdriver before a tuner but that's just me. I refuse to run HF mobile.

In retrospective…you can pickup a Motorola Maxtrac/GM300/Radius for $20. Programming cable runs $20. If you have a native 16 channel, you can hex edit it for 40 channels…some Maxtrac 300's came in 32...
Cobra 75 is a HHCH if I'm not mistaken. I like HHCH (Stryker makes my favorite so far but it is aimed at 10m) options…I try to keep at least one radio with a HHCH in my vehicles.
CB is cheaper...
Reasons why I just run a fender mount Larsen for CB…I can get up to 100 with mine no problem.
ETA: Not that I'd do it…it begins to become a case of herding between ditches at 90.
