I think I've found it. There is a small amount of play in the front propshaft where it exits the transfer case so presume the joint is worn. Now is this an easy job or a PITA?

OK so I removed the axle shafts last weekend and there is absolutely no play in those UJ's at all.
So it's not the hub bearings and it doesn't seem to be the axle shaft UJ's.
Any more ideas...
AJ's SuperRails are great!!
Nice and solid with good mounting points on the chassis rail and the pinch seam. Easy to fit and look the business! AJ is a great guy as well and will always...
I've got an RE 4.5" Superflex fitted at the moment with 33's but I want to go up to a 6.5" LA kit with 35's as soon as finances allow.
Any ideas on upgrade to the UJ's or is it just a case of replacing?
OK, so I jacked up the front end tonight, grabbed the tire at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock and attempted to wiggle it to identify if there was any play. There wasn't anything, solid as a rock so I'm...
Thanks for the comments, I'm pretty sure it's not the shocks and the tires have been off the XJ for the whole 6 months.
I can see where you are coming from re either the unit bearing or the axle...
OK, so my XJ has not moved for 6 months as I've been doing bits and pieces to it over the winter.
This weekend, I replaced all the fluids and greased everything, started her up (first time) and...
No religion for me. 99% of all wars are caused by religion so in theory if there was no religion there would be no war.
Just my point of view.
I did the same.
Drill the smallest holes that you need into the roof under the rack. Use a "holed" grommet, feed the wires through and seal up with silicon. I did mine a couple of years ago and...
Thanks, that's a very useful guide. I don't know about the US but here in the UK the containers don't have a "use by......" or "best before........" date on the containers. If you buy a container of...
Just getting some opinions really on whether lubricants have a shelf life.
I replaced my diff lube today with some unopened lubricant that I bought 4 years ago. I'm now wondering whether the...
The higher you go, the more it will cost! And I'm not just talking about bigger lift kits but more extra items such as extended brake lines, SYE's, CV rear prop etc. etc.
As Payless said, do your...
Which one did you go for in the end and why?
It's like most things really, you've just got to shop around and calculate the cheapest way of buying. Jason from JeepinOutfitters I felt was very reasonable in his shipping charges.
The main...
And I can thoroughly recommend Jeepin Outfitters :thumbsup::thumbsup:
I wouldn't recommend using a hi-lift under the rocker panels. I would doubt you could get a hi-lift under there anyway!
Definately go with full coils if you can.
I cut my Bushwacker when I fitted my Safari. I did lose a fixing but I didn't lose and rigidity on the flare.

The are no differences between the two snorkels. The extra price is because you get a replacement washer reservoir and all the tubing / wire extensions to relocate the reservoir elsewhare. You can't...
I've posted this before but out of all the mods that I've done to my XJ (lift, lockers, hood vents, protection, lights etc etc etc), this mod has given me the most satisfaction and is in fact the...
Not trying to repeat what everybody has said already but if you are going to go to 6.5" I'd definately go LA. SA will give you a very harsh ride. You could go SA with a set of drop brackets but then...
If you can afford them go for ARB air lockers. I've got them installed front and rear and they work like a dream. Nice and easy to use as well. But they ain't cheap (well not in the UK there not!!)
Gizza job then!!
I love the Currie's HD set up. i've seen it on a few LHD XJ's over here. I'm just gutted that they don't do a RHD version. :sad0147:
