Power steering line question

2001 XJ, 96 PS pump and durango steering box. When I swapped out the steering box I had power steering. Note that I do not drive this vehicle daily and have only gone around the block with it for testing. At that time I had PS. It has sat for a good week or two and now nothing. New lines, fluid is milky (was before swapping steering box). Yes I changed the fluid with new box install. Im guessing I got air some where. But my main questions are the following so I can diagnose the system.

Ive looked at several sources and gotten mixed answers. Does the pressure line from the pump connect to the left or right hold in the steering gear when facing the vehicle? Doesn't seem its possible for the lines to swap sides due to differences in size.

2nd question, does anyone know the threading of the steering gear end of the hose fittings? Seems one is slightly misthreaded and I need to get a plug so I can push and turn to help clear the threads.

To answer part of your question, the passenger side line is the pressure line. Sounds like you might have moisture or air in the oil. What kind of oil are you running in it?
