98 Cherokee - stalls when in reverse gear
Hi all,
I have a 98 jeep w/ automatic transmission that stalls out while in reverse. It recently had some problems moving forward and stalling too. It happens after it has been driven a few miles, but then everything is fine the next day.
Googling took me to possible torque converter problem. I have 170k on this jeep.
Thanks!

This should be a simple fix. Your idle air controller is probably a little dirty and just needs cleaning
Re: 98 Cherokee - stalls when in reverse gear
It idles fine and engine seems strong. As soon as I throw it into reverse it stalls - a couple times i punch the gas to keep it running, but it is quick to stall.

I still suspect it needs cleaning

Hi all,
It turns out that my Wiring Harness had a short in it. I guess when it was thrust in reverse the engine torqued a certain way causing it to stall.
