Low profile gas tank

fuel tank is in a bad spot on our rigs. add a skid and you're really starting to affect your departure angle. It's crappy plastic anyway.

some guys cut the floor in cargo area and move it up a few inches. some relocate a smaller cell back there and leave cargo floor alone. either way, you're now riding around with fuel tank in the passenger area. wheeling could lead to leaks. all around bad idea IMO.

so.. does anyone know of a low profile fuel tank that would fit wear the current tank goes but would be tuck up flush with bumper? I typically get a couple rides out of a tank of gas and wouldn't mind throwing a jerry can or 2 on the trailer (or on tire carrier when I build it) for longer adventures.

I'd probably have to build a skid for it - not a problem. just curious if you guys have seen anything like this?

Fuel cell maybe?

thats what I was thinking. found a couple that may work.

Anybody got pics of their XJ with a skid installed? I may be overthinking this.... just seems like it hangs lower than it needs to
