Yes, they are sensitive to taller tires
This may seem a little long winded.
Random thought, transmission is running hot with the larger tires, and the motors run hot anyway in the HO4.0.
Mercedes Benz runs their freon lines for the AC around fuel lines to cool the fuel for maximum combustion and efficiency.
The Mercedes reference is why I'm trying to look into cooling system pressures, how much pressure would a Jeep radiator hold during a hot run cycle.
So I could look into say a freon charged kind of cooler, say if the transmission cooler in the radiator would hold 150 lbs of pressure, why not charge that with freon and add another external cooler for the tranny?
Would it be better to add a cooler to the front charged with freon to cool everything all together?
Just random thoughts I've had, I'm curious to know if anyone else has had any experience, thoughts, or know any resources I could use to answer the questions that have been bugging me.
I tried to explain all that to Google but she just didn't understand the search criteria.

You raise several issues here. One is that the radiator isn't good for anything over 30#. As far as the AC lines wrapped around the fuel line goes. The single line system on the 96+ would work for that. Earlier lines return to the tank and are constantly circulated. But cooler fuel is a cheap horsepower trick from way back. But there is a trade off. To get cold out of an AC return line, it first has to be compressed and thereby heated and allowed to dissipate some of that heat usually in front of the radiator, which in turn will make it harder to cool. So it is kind of a catch 22
Interesting, ok external tranny cooler it is. Weathers about to cool off down here anyway. I'm still curious i might put that back for a later. Thanks man

Got my wife to help out with the lift, Rusty's 4.5
In the rear I used the Rusty's shackles with a 3.5 lifted leafs, they stiff I may have to take them out I doubt it will articulate terrain very wellhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...30714943bc.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0d7602d1ee.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0485f29db0.jpg

Used the cab back for a 69 c10 to make some hood ventshttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...c5c826ad8c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...3589edca32.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...43cc957595.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...140334b7fa.jpg

Very innovative on those vents. Many kits have rear leaves that are kind of stiff. Just the way the kits run
Did some testing with a buddy of mine yesterday, think I need a little more lift in the front but other than that we had a fun dayhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...bb03786d57.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...600e332291.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...feaafe91a9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...9dbad61183.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...de2bd8089f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0810808b92.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...f75d4fb1fb.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...013bc57bc3.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...9f12420dc6.jpg

I do think I pushed my brakes to the limit however, some minor pumping is now necessary for stops, but no leaks, figure that one outhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...56bd3c23af.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...e018cb3d46.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...9347fa9e74.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...e8624c0592.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...77806ddb53.jpg

Nice pics. Nothing like a little moist dirt to make for a nice day wheeling. That was a pretty deep trench.
The external trans cooler is the best way to go with bypassing the one in the radiator. It will help keep both cooler.
Really liking your build by the way.
XJ is looking good.. the 4.5" lift is like a just right lift height to go with... and is plenty to get out and have a blast with... Why do you feel you need more lift in the front end, just to help clear the tires when tucked, or to level it out?? I'd say give the suspension a little bit of time to break in before you feel like ditching the rear leafs, or anything like that... or even to add more to try and even out the front end, fi that is the reason you are waiting to add lift to the front.. I thought I was going to have to fight and add spacers on my front end, but in the end, I just loosened the rear leafs a bit, loaded the back end for a day or two... and then pulled the added weight, and tightened everything back up... and has been good since then... and that seemed to help how the rear felt after the lift... Where did you guys run this past weekend in NC?? Would love to check out that place, especially that ditch you're running...
Thanks all for the input and props!!!
Actually had a trans cooler laying around at work so I'm saving it for after winter time, I need a new radiator and to blow all the crud out of the system, also would like to switch to an electric fan. I'll do that all at once
Blue, I'm actually really digging the height in the rear and like in those wash outs just felt like I could have used just a little more clearance, I do want to level it out and I can get the pucks for free
Also, if you're at pope, it's only about an hour, it's on 421 8 miles passed Lillington toward Sanford hit me up we'll go again
