Hankook dynapro A/T tires
New to your forum. Not new to XJs. Anyway I put on a set of Hercules Trail Digger M/T tires. 285/75/16. There are the noisest tires ive owned. Also out of round. Because I cash and carried and mounted them at my dealership. Hercules and the tire store won't stand behind them because they were not installed by a authorized installer. What ever. I have a set of Hankook Dynapro A/T on my Grand Cherokee that is my daily driver. No I don't wheel my Grand. I'm wondering if anyone is doing any type of serious wheeling with them. If so how well they do and hold up on trails and rock crawling

Welcome to the world of wheeling. Yes, mud tires are generally noisy. Not as bad as they used to be back in the day, but noisy especially on a unibody rig. I don't have any personal experience with the Hankooks, but these are not a serious wheeling tire. But then again, what do you mean by serious wheeling?
Re: Hankook dynapro A/T tires
Serious wheeling I.e. Trails wth rock gardens or rock obstacles to climb.

You could use them. Bear in mind though the sidewalls are not going to take any sharp rocks.
Re: Hankook dynapro A/T tires
I gonna say No. Nobody is doing serious wheeling with those tires.... I mean, could you try it? sure, but I wouldn't recommend it
you could buy the kooks, then use your trail diggers for off road only. likely wouldn't notice they're not perfect at lower trail speeds. also looks like some are finding they don't wear well on the street. also, a few reviews are saying they perform well off road
Re: Hankook dynapro A/T tires
I have Kooks on my Grand Cherokee they I've got 25 k on them now. I've got at least 60% tread left on them. I found a couple a tests from a couple of Offroad magazines in 07 when the tires just came out. They ran them on some trails in Big Bear and said they did very well . But the article also stated the test was put on by Hankook. I guess instead of going budget friendly like my Hercules tires go with what I've used in the past. Goodyear Duratrac tires

+1 on Duratracs. They are more aggressive than a regular AT yet not too noisy on pavement.
Re: Hankook dynapro A/T tires
toyo open countries are on my tow rig. about the least aggressive tire I'd run on a 4x4 rig. can barely hear them at 40 mph. It's noticeable at 75 but not loud. can grab a tread pic, but I'm sure goog will pop one up for ya
BFG KO2s weren't very noisy on the Grand before I sold it. AWESOME street life out of those and pretty good aired down. tougher sidewall on the second gen
no personal experience with duratracs but I hear good things
Re: Hankook dynapro A/T tires
Duratracs FTW. Mine have been great on and off road, aired up to 35psi, or down to 15. They do really well in the snow too, unless you bury it up to the front bumper lol

I've had Duratracs in the past and loved them. I was trying the cheap out it bit me.
