Fuel Gage question
Manual for my 97 XJ says I have a 20 gallon fuel tank. Yesterday I put in 21 1/2 gallons on a empty tank. I'm now assuming that I have a 22 gallon tank. I have the standard fuel gage (no low fuel lamp). This gage has the "shaded" area next to the E mark. Twice I've gone past that mark and took the needle farther than I thought I could. Bottom line, I guess I shouldn't really mess around and let it get that low, but I am curious on the size of the tank and how much gas is in the tank when in the shaded area. (on my honda that I used to have I knew exactly WHEN the tank was almost empty.

Re: Fuel Gage question
Makes me wonder if that gas pump is calibrated, or if they're gouging people on every fill up

Re: Fuel Gage question
you can fit some extra in there by filling up the fuel filler hose. I am not sure how long the hose is though I don't think it could fit 1.5 gallons.

Re: Fuel Gage question
when my tank is full my gauge shows 3/4 full and never goes lower then a 1/4. I can fill it about 3/4 full then I have to trickle in the last 4 or 5 gallons. the rest of the jeeps works flawless so I just live with it.

Re: Fuel Gage question
You might want to check your vent hose for kinks. It should fill quickly to shut off
