Carpet or Line-X?
Recently had an interior leak due to back up in th A/C system. It resulted in mildew to the front interior carpet, which I have since removed.
Now debating whether to use new carpet or to try "line-X" liner as a replacement. Anyone have any thoughts? Has anyone used the line-X liner on the interior of their Xj?
Also would like suggestions as to who to use for either.

Re: Carpet or Line-X?
I had to look that up. Basically if you remove the carpet you will get two things. More noise and more heat. Those carpets provide noise suppression and insulation from heat. But if you are submerged all the time, then the bed liner is OK since you will get mildew like you had.

So happy I put carpet back in mine. Without it, it was very loud inside and there was no way the a/c could even come close to cooling it off.

Re: Carpet or Line-X?
carpet if you want it to be quiet and cooler/warmer when needed. I did rhino lining on mine, cuz it was always wet and smelled kinda funky. The floor does get a little hot around the trans hump and where the exhaust runs. I live in the northeast though so its only for a few months that its really bad. In the winter, I think it actually helps heat the inside. Its also easier cleanup when I errr I mean the kids spill that full cup of coffee on the way to work.:rolleye0012:

Re: Carpet or Line-X?
With out carpet most of the time I did not run the heat in the winter. In summer is was unbearable for a daily driver. I bought the interior from a part out for $40. I'm never going to run with out carpet/interior again

I would x-line it and then install marein carpet that way the x-line will stop rust and the carpet will help with the noise and heat.

Re: Carpet or Line-X?
I was thinking about taking my carpet out as well. My first xj was line-x and I never had any issues cooling it but the noise was unbearable. My exhaust often set off car alarms but I doubt that is an issue for most. I like the line-x/marine carpet idea though. Never thought about that. I suppose it depends on how often you put her in water/mud.
Edit: actually isn't line-x. It was like the line-x but it was factory. layed out just like the carpet is with all the heat resistant stuff under but waterproof. I'm sure you could find what I'm talking about. Not sure if all sports have the same floor lining?
