Cut fenders, no lift, FREE TIRES!!!!!

I have my awsome 89 xj, Trimmed the front and rear. I don't yet have a lift, planning on a 3" Zone Offroad kit as it is my daily driver. My neighbor is giving me a set of 33x12.5x15 tires in ok condition. Question is can I run that set with factory rims, and no lift on road safe until I get the lift, or anyone willing to trade for same condition 32x10.5x15 that may have a better setup to acc. the 33"????

A 12.50" tire is a bit too wide for a factory 7" wheel, 8" is ok. With no lift you just aren't going to be able to turn as far and flex as much. That is if you trimmed a good bit already.

They will run on 7" wheels, not the best senario, but it will work. My 12.5 Swampers came on a set of 7" wheels when I got them. Turning sharp was impossible even with aftermarket LCA's.

Rubbing will be occuring all the time even in daily driving with 33's. I have 33's on mine with a RC 4.5 lift and it still rubs on skid plate and lca's. I had the tires on factory 7 inch wide rims as well... In the back, due to the factory rim backspacing. i have less than an eighth of an inch between the leaf springs and the tire sidewall. Any tire the tire flexed or suspension flexs it would rub a little on the rear leafs. Wasn't horrible but I didnt like that it rubbed.

So much for the free tires, he sold the jeep b4 he got new ones. Bummer, however, went to the local junk yard to get a part foung a xj with skyjacker shocks and what looks to be a 3" kit, could get it all for about 150, what would i need to look for to make sure i'm not getting stock springs, leafs, and worn out shocks. They don't look to be in bad shape, just hope nobody else notices before I can get to it..

grab it!! the shocks alone are worth that if they're in good shape.

Look for upgraded control arms, springs, leafs, etc. check for spacers up front to make sure the springs giving it the lift.

Guessing an easy way to tell how much lift is to jack mine up and measure to a body line and then go measure that one the same way? Its got rims holding it up at the frame rails, so I kinda need a base before I buy stock springs without knowing right. They look a little thicker than stock on the coils and I didn't think to count the leafs until I had already left.
