A co-worker has a 93 Explorer he is getting rid of. The tires are in good shape. My question is will I be able to swap out the rims?

Not sure about the backspacing but they should bolt up since they use the 5x4.5 patern. I had a guy buy my old 31"s and proceeded to put them on his ranger in the parking lot.

As far as fit? couldn't tell you for sure, but you can measure the lugs to check. Other than that, those might look bad A** painted flat black!

Ha! you posted while I was in the midst of typing. I couldn't remember the pattern size.

Could always measure the backspace on your spare, provided you have one and it's the same as the rest, and compare that to his. Or, just drive over and put one on and see how you like it.

The lug spacing is identical. Not sure of the back spacing though.

Well the rims fit, only problem is there are 3 different ones. But hey I got a set of Yokohama Geolanders with a great amount of tread out of the deal. I will have them mounted on a set of Jeep rims later on this summer. But for now all is well. Just in time too, when I was taking off the right rear I noticed I had a screw in the tire.

Nice deal... I have actually been searching the Ranger forums looking for some decent shape 31's for a friend of mine's XJ... Most folks don't think about them, as they have the same bolt pattern... He really only wants the tires anyways, so the backspacing for him will only be an issue until he can afford to have them mounted on his Jeep rims...

Grats on the tire score. How far off is the backspacing anyway, if any, on stock wheels?

Stock explorer wheels range from 3.5" to 4.5" backspacing. Both of which should work fine on a XJ

The back spacing is fine. I didn't measure it, but I have had no problems with rubbing.

VERY odd never seen a matching set of tires on a mismatched set of wheels... usually its the other way around
