Ok I have a91 xj with a aw4 23 spine out put shaft. the replacement one has a 21 it's from a 89 so I picked up a 2dr for $300 bucks I didnt get the year off of it but I'm Shure it's 88 or so . So my question is now that I have a unit with a trans case it should work in mine right

Ok this jeep turned out to be 86 with a v6 and prolly A torque flite 904 will the transfer Case fit my aw 4

Yes it will. It is not a 231 though. No aftermarket support for it. It is the precursor to the 231. Speedo gears are different and as far as I know, you cannot get new ones to correct the speedo.

Ok I bought the 86 with the 2.8 I just got transfer case out and it's got a 23 spline also crap now I dnt know what to do I'm stuck

Issue resolved I changed the tail shaft in the 88 aw4 from my 91 aw4 all is well except for the trans cooler fitings leaked so I replaced them and one has a small drip still
