What year tranny?

I have a 2001 Cherokee 2wd. I have everything to swap it to a 4wd except the trans and t-case. I know that the trans is the A4W but what I dont know is what years are compatible with my Jeep. I have been told that there was a change in the harness for my year. Can someone point me in the right direction so I can make the correct purchase.

Matt just done this conversion... but i think he may be on vacation , will see if i can find his build pge...someone else will have info as well

IIRC, the tranny ECU is integrated into the PCM (engine computer). I would guess that you could use any 97-10 AW4. The problem is that your computer may not be up to the task and you may need to find a compatible computer from a 4wd Cherokee.

I'm curious to see how this turns out.

I read the entire build thread and I was not able to find out any info that I need for my swap. I did however get some really cool ideas for things that could happen in the future. thanks for help. Im still diggin.

2000 and 2001 IIRC, call a dealer and say you want to buy one and see which years are compatible with your Jeep.
