Police package?

Hi, i just traded my 96 Zj for a Xj.... Im liking it better even though it was a down grade on comfort its a better platform to build on... And im pretty sure i accidently picked up a police package XJ. It has the extended idle and rubber floor instead of carpet with no extra fancy acc. Is the police package on the rare side or not?

Well it could also be a government xj. They arent too rare but still pretty cool. There is a local car dealer here with about 10 of em. Been thinking about picking up one of his 2drs.

What color is it. The Forest Service used a lot of them.

Nismo on here has a Gov. package on his , very stripped down. Don't think I personally would be to excited over it , I like all the fancy stuff lol lol

Yes, the gov packages I have been around are always low bid and generally stripped down.

I saw one in the junkyard a few months back. I was able to pick up the factory spare tire carrier off of it. As far as being rare Im not sure. Ive seen a few but not a bunch. I thought about picking up the rubber floor also but figured it was going to be too much work.

I have one with the police package. It belonged to a K-9 unit in North Carolina. They put in a dome light(metal dish with 1056 bulb). My wife is not hot on the XJ because the speedo is different from the XJ she usually drives and she has to watch closely to keep from speeding.

My white fleet XJ has floor shift, the idiot light gauge cluster, manual accessories, and a tape only AM/FM. I've certified it was a fleet Jeep with a carfax report. I'm pretty sure it was a forest service. No ext idle switch either.

But I know from my experience with Crown Vic's that you could get something other than the standard police package.

rarity i think depends on your location, personally i have never seen or heard of one up here in BC, Canada. But our police forces tend to run fords and chevys.

Hmmmm, I've never heard of that either. I know even P71 Crown Vic's had buckets instead of the standard split bench for the radio console.

Pretty sure it was. You don't see any with the bench seat at all.

yea cant recall what forum it was on as ive seen countless special package threads over the years but there were pics and it was a first gen xj, and yea it just looked like MJ stuff [Column shift,Bench seat] had been installed into the XJ

I ordered drums off of Autozone and I got police package drums. Guess what, they dont fit my XJ.:bang: Sometimes I hate being APO.

I saw a XJ at a junkyard that had rowan county Fire dept written on it. I can't comment on the interior, It was pretty much gutted. but it did have a tire rack on the back bumper.
