I'd like to go to a marine style terminal to make it easier to add additional electrical devices. I'm just worried the studs are too tall and will touch the hood. Does anyone have any experience?

I don't think you will have that problem I've had a marine battery in my 95 a couple of times with no problems but if you are worried (or should the one you get actually touch the hood, just get some rubber sheeting and build covers out of it.

Hood's the same, so if it worked on a 95, it should work on my 97.

I use em on all my vehicles they work awesome. If your worried about contact with the hood cover the stud with a piece of rubber fuel line. I make my own batt cables just strip off the cable to the wire then mount the copper lug in a vice heat with torch and melt solder about half way up the inside of lug then push in the batt cable add more solder as needed let cool then cover with heat shrink works great.

Here are my new terminals and terminal lugs on my cables. Cut the old terminals off, wire brush the copper cable to get it clean. Crimp the lugs on. I used a big pair of vice grips because I didn't have crimpers that big. I would crimp, release, tighten the screw alittle, and crimp again until they were tight.

I should have used heat shrink tubes instead of tape, but I didn't have any handy. The lugs were under $4 at napa for a box of 10, I used 4 on this project. The terminals were under $2 a each, and $.98 for the felt disks.

What's the purpose of the felt?

It's supposed to be treated with something that keeps corrosion down. The jury's out, but they are only $.98 for a set, so why not.

This is how I do mine also, except I solder the terminals on the cables and run the bolts up from the bottom so the nuts are on top.

That's a great idea for having the ability to add additional electrical devices.
