I want aftermarket oil pressure & coolant temp gauges...also want a trans temp gauge. It looks like there is enough room for them under the rear defroster/foglight/rear wiper switch, in front of the shifter. Anyone put gauges here? If so...what fits?

Put them all on the drivers side A pillar.

I do not want them on the A-pillar.

I prefer them easily seen without taking my off the road too much. I would put them where the clock is or on top of the dash.

My two extra temp gauges bounce around in the drinkholders in the console ... :D
Are you set on having the usual, space wasting 2" dial gauges ???
Im a convert to this sort of modern trickery .... which is a good alternative ...
Depending on design ... one unit can display a bunch of different temps at once .... http://www.xjtalk.com/showthread.php?t=8703

It's a 1997...the clock is part of the stereo. I would rather not put them on top of the dash.

without getting into making a custom dash panel Your idea of under the center vent port is about as good as it gets without going piller or roof console mounting.

I faced the same dilemma when I wanted to add tranny fluid temp and vacuum gauge. I didn't want to put it on the "A" pillar and make it look more like a Mustang, but really it was either under the dash (rubbing on my legs) or on the "A" pillar. If you find a better way please let me know.

It looks like there bis room for three small gauges under the center stack, just ahead of the shifter.

That's were I mounted mine, right under the ashtray, behind the shifter. Use LED lights to light them up, works great.
