Anyone know of any good (TOUGH) side view mirrors or have any home brewed ideas ? I'm really tired of replacing OEMs ! I tried running without but it's almost impossible around here without a spotter .

I have a suggestion for you. To be tough, the mirror has to yield and swing when it is hit. I have some I put on my Chevy pickup that are a sort of universal mirror that will take some punishment short of hitting stuff at speed. You get them from LMC in their Chevy pickup catalogue. They are larger than the XJ mirror, but work well.

I put late model YJ/early model TJ side mirrors on my doors, the visibility is great, but they have to be in different positions on each door to see past the little "pillar" for the butterfly windows. Now that I can go doorless, I wish i mounted them on the fender for legal purposes, but am rigging up some magnetic units for that...

oh... and i tipped it onto my passenger door, and the mirror just folded flat to the glass, and nothing broke. was pretty happy about that

Just lost another one. At least it was a cheapie this time ! Maybe it's time for an exo cage !

If your still looking for an option on the mirrors, '83-'92 ranger/'84-'90 bronco 2 mirrors (the smaller plastic ones) are slim, foldable, cheap, and only use two bolts/screws to mount.

Cool XJWheeler! i like those! Mine's missing one and its time to replace but was trying to avoid ones that don't collapse.

So whats the trick on the getting to the bolts, pull the door panel off?

Pull the little triangular panel on the inside of the mirror. There are three little torx screws that hold it on
