Let's discuss this. What if anything do you have as far as fire supression?

I haven't put anything in yet, but some events over the past week got me to thinking. First due to a mis-comunication I had 5 gallons of jet fuel thrown in on me during live fire training. The safety gear did it's job, I'm alive!! Then while wheeling this weekend I found myself straddle a high pressure natural gas pipeline in the bottom of a creek (marker was missing). All ended well but I begin thinking of fire supression to put in the Xj, let the research begin!

I have two fire extinguishers a small ABC by drivers seat and a larger one on back left in cargo area. On MJ only have a small 2.5 pounder behind drivers seat.

Not sure what you are looking for here Ray, but beyond fire extinguishers, purple K preferably, there are fuel shut offs and CO2 under hood systems you can get at Summit Racing. The y are intended for drag racing applications to suppress nitromethane, which is much more flammable than jet fuel.

You can't put fire out with alcohol, peeing on it would be like a flame thrower!:D:smiley-laughing021:

Nothing to fancy for me. Having something handy to knock down the flames long enough to escape is what I would be looking at.

The best fire extinguishers I have ever personally seen was Purple K. Simple stuff really. Instead of sodium bicarbonate they are potassium bicarbonate, which is purple. Amazing stuff. Will put out magnesium flares without too much fuss and is amazing with fuel fires.

shit ray y'all trying to get me banned.....

Catalytic Converters are the greatest fire lighter there is, mainly due to the heat shield over them, grass gets caught between the two, catches fire very quickly. I take mine off...

heh heh .... theres been a few roadside grass fires blamed on the highway patrol too ... since they like to hide in the scrub pointing their revenue raisers at traffic ... :D

Nearly lost the TJ twice ... thanks to the cat and the big belly plate ... Used to carry a pair of thick gloves so I could get all the prickly burr grass and sticks out of it ... :bang:

Still got em in the XJ .... and I carry a coupla those near useless, messy, dry powder extinguishers in the hope they will work properly when needed.

A pair of good running shoes has been my preferred fire safety gear .... ever since the greenies got the BCF extinguishers banned .. .... As if a coupla lbs of cfc is going to cause as much damage to the ozone layer ... as what a burnt out vehicle will ....

I picked a couple fire extinguishers up not long after I got the XJ. One is in the cargo area mounted in the cubby hole on the right side. The second is mounted in front of the drivers seat.

lol nothing short of a level 10 force shield would have protected you if that pipeline had ruptured!

I want to get a fire extinguisher for my rig, the only problem I have with them is they are expensive and they don't last forever! Also it would be nice to have one set up in the engine bay with a pull in the cab for a fuel fire.

this is a good setup for keeping yourself out of fire danger.

Tony look here for a little system that would work under hood http://www.jegs.com/i/Fire-Bottle/386/RC500PULLDTS/10002/-1?parentProductId=753270

this is what I had for years in the race cars http://www.jegs.com/p/Stroud/Stroud-Safety-Fire-Systems/1014849/10002/-1

I've been planing to put a stroud underhood suppression system in and carry two halon units inside, one up front and one at the back.
