View Full Version : How hard to make it work

A member of my Jeep club has two Go Rhino 'push bumpers' he's trying to get rid off. One is ~29.5" long, the other is ~33" long. I'm interested in the shorter one (pics below). I know that given enough time and effort you cam make anything work. But how close to plug and play does this thing look.

Also, anyone think it'd look goofy on an XJ? I suspect it came off of a Crown Vic.

More trouble than it is worth I think

You're probably right. But damn it'd look cool.

If the back part of the bracket could be bolted to the cross member with some stiffening inside, it may work.

I won't fault you there. Most of them just bolt to the bumper and are there for cosmetic reasons. This one has a little frame work in it, but it is not wide enough for the XJ frame rails, so you don't really have anything to bolt to there.

Based on my research, that one came out of a crown vic (1998 -2003 most likely) police cruiser. I wonder if I could come off my front recovery brackets and hang it.

Tim, if I was going to do this, I would fab some side rails for the front frame rails. Then bolt to that. Then you would have some strength there and make it functional.

My front recovery brackets sandwich the subframe like a "U". But I wonder if I could do something like this and hang it from a bracket.

This is what I sorta envisioned doing for mounting. I'm kinda hoping Mark will chime in.

That is what you need

Thanks.

I ran across the following:

By my caculations, the distance between the center of each subframe "horn" is 770mm = 77cm = 30.31496 inches. Now I gotta figure if it's worth $50 for it to play with.

Looks like all you need is some metal, brake and welder time. Bear has something similar on his rig and it looks pretty good. I am probably going to end up with pusher bars but I think I'll be going with the old CHP design for easy fabrication.

Take the subframe off... and bolt the thing to the front bumper. Could use some spacers if needed if it doesn't mount up to the bumper just right.

I found this on Detour's facebook.

Looks like something to kill the approach angle. Might be nice on momma's mall crawler to get carts out of the way so she can park.

not any worse than a big ass winch bumper on the front to kill an approach angle. Not real sure what damn difference approach angle would make if it is a mudder....rather than a crawler.

Well, If he is just playing in the mud that will work out just fine. Ither than that the 3' or 4' the over-rider sticks out is guaranteed to catch on something.
