Looking for steering gear box

Hi fellow XJeers,

few days ago my friend broken worm gear of steering gear box of 96 RHD ZJ. he temporarily installed worm gear from LHD one, it is real fun :D steer right - turn left; steer left - turn right --drove jeep to garage.

I tried to find steering gear box for him, but new one is 700+ USD plus shipment. If someone from RHD world (HK, Japan. AU, NZ, UK etc) have used steering gear box for sale please send me PM.

as we know, dodge steering is bolt on upgrade - is it means RHD dodge unit will fit?

You could also look for a RHD Chevy car box if they have them in your part of the world. Also I think a LHD Chevy pickup box might work too. They bolt up on the right hand side.

I notice the adjustment screw is down pretty far. That one might be worn out, unless it is properly adjusted now.

That looks identical to the Chevrolet left hand box.

I know it wouldn't look very good, but at least until you get the right steering box, just flip your steering wheel over to correct for the LHD steering box! :wink: :D

This should be your part number 52088487 unless you have speed Proportioning steering. Sadly my suppliers are backordered on it but I will try more on monday if you still need one.
